[GAME RECAP] FINAL: BYU 20, Utah 28

The BYU Cougars fell 28 to 20 against the Utah Utes at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Nov 7, 2026. BYU erased an early fourteen point deficit by scoring seventeen unanswered points in the second quarter, but four turnovers ultimately stalled the comeback effort in the second half.

Sophomore quarterback Bear Bachmeier completed 21 of 35 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown while adding 59 rushing yards on 8 carries. Wide receiver Legend Glasker hauled in 7 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, linebacker Cade Uluave led the unit with 7 tackles, and defensive lineman Bodie Schoonover recorded 2 sacks. Utah quarterback Devon Dampier led the Utes with 177 passing yards, 87 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns.

The loss drops BYU in the conference standings as the regular season enters its final stretch. The Cougars will look to rebound next week when they return home to Lavell Edwards Stadium.

Hate losing up in Salt Lake, but I love the grit this team showed climbing out of that early hole. Four turnovers will kill you against anybody, especially on the road. Bear fought hard and Legend had a fantastic game on the outside. Bodie brought great pressure with those two sacks too. We just gotta clean up the mistakes and get ready to pack LES next week. Go Cougs!
