Just got done watching the latest practice footage and some of these early set breakdowns. Kevin Young is running things completely differently than what we grew used to under Pope. The ball movement is so crisp in the half court, and we're finally getting easy looks in transition instead of just walking it up every single possession. Guard play is going to be fun to watch all winter. Anyone else going down to the Marriott Center for the open scrimmage next week?
Spot on about the pace. KY is running actual NBA sets out there. Five-out spacing changes everything because those ball screens force drop coverage, and guys like Richie Saunders are going to feast on the weak-side kick-outs. We haven't seen secondary break execution like this in Provo in a long time. Gonna be a fun winter once conference play hits.
Love seeing that crisp movement. Richie is gonna have a massive year in this system. Reminds me a bit of how fluid our offenses were back in the day when we just trusted the pass and cut hard. KY is bringing the absolute best out of these boys and I cannot wait for opening night at the MC. Go Cougs!
