Saw the new power rankings this morning and seeing us at number eight is great and all, but my stomach just knots right up. You know what happens when we get nice things. We play some night game on the road where we forget how to tackle and give up a third and twenty with a soft zone cushion ten yards deep. I am genuinely losing sleep worrying about Tempe this weekend. Anyone else feel like we are walking a tightrope every single Saturday?
I get the stress completely. Watching us sit at number eight is awesome, but old habits die hard when you live through decades of Cougar heart attacks. Just remember that the guys out there right now are putting on tape for Sundays. When recruits see Fred Warner running the middle of the field or Puka breaking records every week in the NFL, it changes everything for our future rosters. Kalani and the staff are building pros now. We just gotta survive Tempe and let the talent take over.
I hear you on those old heart attacks. Living through the 1984 run gives you high expectations, but it also gives you permanent football nerves. Kalani has these young men playing with so much grit though. They don't panic when things get tight. Trust the process and enjoy the ride. Go Cougs!
