I am not confident in our bigs after this season. Next year we have no inside power game. I like Austin, but Austin is not a back to the basket guy. Haven't seen much of Harward, but what little I have seen doesn't get my hopes up.

If I were a betting man, we go this year on the back of Davies and miss next year.

I think I'd have to agree that it will be rough after we lose Davies. Austin will never be a true offensive threat. I don't see how we imporve next year unless we are able to land Jabari Parker. Does Isaac Nielson come back next year?? He looks to have a lot of promise as well but can't remember when he left on the mission. Is Eric Mika a possibility next year to help the team?? Does Calvert leave on a mission next year as well??? I know Kyle Collinsworth is back next yeat - maybe he grew bigger on the mission and now has enough size to play the 4

The things that will keep us out are injuries or hc violations.

If have neither of those we are in.

Absolutely! We have a good post presence and should have decent guard play. Davies looks like he is preparing to go in the 1st round of the NBA draft. Carlino looks like a better distributor, even though he still takes bad shots. Haw will be a solid contributor. Austin should be better than last year. Defensively we should be ok, and I love our transition game. It appears that our 3 point shooting should be better than last year.

I love Davies. 1st round pick - I don't think so.

I believe that Davies has a very good year- averaging a double-double with 20 pp-g he would be a late 1st round pick or a high second round.

Of course if he measures in at 6'8" it won't happen.

Ever the optimist, I think they'll win every game (until they lose, then they'll win all of their remaining games) ;)

I'm looking forward to a fun and entertaining season, especially on Dec. 1st, when I'll be able to see them in person! Anyone coming to Iowa for the Iowa State game? Let me know!

I won't be, but my brother lives in Iowa City. I'll tell him.

A group from our ward is buying tickets. If he's interested, send me a personal message and we can get his information. Thanks!

I think we barely miss. Our guards are not world beaters (particularly on defense), Raul Delgado has the tools but is sadly out of shape and our perimeter defense still stinks.

Davies is going to get double teamed, a lot, and I don't think we have anyone else aside from Haws that can be counted on to make plays and score when given the ball.

We're good but not great.

If this team gets to the dance, I will consider it Coach Rose's best coaching job. Regardless the future is incredibly bright and I will take it one game at a time this year.

day like this, I wish I had been wrong; but this team is not quite tourney caliber

We showed our inexperience today, including Haws. A lot of the turnovers and misses will hopefully be cleaned up as these guys get more experienced. Hopefully they can grow up quickly and surprise us. At least we know what we've got and can hope to exceed expectations.

I am a bit surprised about how badly Davies is misfiring at time - missing free throws and easy shots, too many fouls, and why is he shooting - attempting - so many 3s. Also surprised to see others missing so many wide open shots.

Is Davies 100% healthy?

Any correlation between our shooting % and free throw shooting % drop and Dave Rice leaving?

Or is it just current talent and experience off the usual mark?

Other?

I didn't really have any issue with Davies today, except for the 3 point shooting. Maybe a little more practice before firing those up. He will have off nights with free throws. I'm just glad he didn't get into foul trouble. He was one of the few consistent weapons we had today.

Right now we aren't tournament ready, nor deserving of a bid. What I like about basketball is that we can get better and pay ourselves into the tournament. We have good enough talent, just depends how quickly it gels.

I am still stuck in Paradise with no TV and thus WATCHED the game on KSL Internet Radio and only caught the 2nd half. But, I thought they said Davies had foul trouble in the first half - maybe I am just remembering that from a previous game. His shooting percentage was definitely way down early.

DM. Only 4 of us voted no. Was this quote from Coach Pope? Note that I also got it right about Davies. Good - but not 1st Round NFL. Got it early. It is called reality and you cannot rewrie history. How did you vote in this poll? How did Bluecis Better vote after predicting BYU would flirt with 30 REGULAR SEASON wins.
