Wow, Bib, I'm glad to see your skill and recognition improvement. You are absolutely right, Davies will not go in the first r of the NFL. Nw, off to your ABC's.

A lot of people thought he would coming into the season. What was your prediction back then?

Davies actually might make it into the NFL as a tight end... into the NBA however? Not a prayer.

Oh great, another discussion of Bronco Mendenhall missing NFL talent that falls into his lap. ;)

I heard it had something to do with "not trusting" Davies. ;-)

Can we give Davies a few years of eligibility for football? He would make a great receiving tight end. Great height, great hands and decent wheels. A perfect weapon for throwing to in the back of the end zone.

What if he called himself Shamrandon Shravies?

There is a reason Davies plays bball and Kaufusi plays football. Davies can handle big bruisers. I hope he repeats the earlier game vs Baylor. It was one of the exceptions where he took the fight to taller guys. Of course, Baylor guys are not so thick as tall.

Yeah, because Brandon's play this year has been a sham.

Credit him for two strong games. But he's trending the wrong way again with last game's performance. We'll see tonight. Hopefully his confidence is high and not his hubris.
S

Yeah, because he's only had two strong games thisyear and one game is trending.

Or maybe Davies has a double-double in 11 games this year (six of which came away from Provo). He is four rebounds short of a double-double in seven straight.

Since he grabbed just 6 rebs vs the Zags in the first game, he's averaged more than 9 per game in the last 14 games.

U be arguin with a couple of bricks. Thick bricks.

Brick 1 is blinded by bitterness towards Davies. He probably believes Davies' indiscretion cost BYU a NC or at least a Final Four appearance because he was such a loss. But now he can't let go of that factoid - and connect the dots - that if Davies would have made a huge difference then - how could he be so bad now. Chalk it up to Calino imho if Jimmer was lifting Soph Davies higher than Carlino lifts junior and senior Davies.

So Brick 1 has posted that he wished Davies had not returned to the team. He actually did post that this year. He has also called for Davies to be held accountable and benched. Even thougb BYU has absolutely no depth.

Do not expect logic - just emotion.

Brick 2 has seemingly attached himself to Brick 1 lately due to a shortage of alternatives.

Both bricks seem to have not noticed all-conference honors and statitical leadership.

Prepare for the insults to follow. One of us will get called a Ute. We will be reminded that Brick 1 has watched every game.

And of course, we know nothing. The phrase first grade logic or 2nd grade logic may bet thrown out.

But just between you and me - Davies is the 2nd best player on the team this year and I doubt he would make a good tight end. But yeah - bench him tonight and put in Kaufusi.

So why has a kid this talented, with this height, with these numbers and post season accolades received virtually as much attention from NBA scouts as he has NFL scouts (and Bib)?
S

Because there are all kinds of players in the NBA just like Davies and many more who don't make it as well.

Davies is a 6'9'', back-to-the-basket post player. There aren't that many of them that truly succeed in the NBA. And even fewer at his weight. Davies doesn't even weigh as much as Lebron and he only has one listed inch on him.

NBA scouts can look at Davies' game and realize he doesn't have an NBA body. Al Jefferson has an inch and 60 pounds on him.

Just because a kid is talented, doesn't mean he is NBA All-star-talented.

I'm also guessing that he has received more attention than NBA scouts than we're aware of. I don't think he's a starter in the NBA. He might be able to be bench player that could provide some post scoring. But his relatively short height for an NBA 5 is going to make it difficult for him to get his shot off and points.

He'll get a look, but I won't be surprised to see him not make the Association.

There are all sorts of players who have great college careers, like Brandon has, that are not NBA. Adam Morrison comes to mind as one. Just because Brandon is not talked of in an NBA context does not mean he has not had a very fine college career and season....

Absolutely! We have a good post presence and should have decent guard play. Davies looks like he is preparing to go in the 1st round of the NBA draft. Carlino looks like a better distributor, even though he still takes bad shots. Haw will be a solid contributor. Austin should be better than last year. Defensively we should be ok, and I love our transition game. It appears that our 3 point shooting should be better than last year.

I love Davies. 1st round pick - I don't think so.

I believe that Davies has a very good year- averaging a double-double with 20 pp-g he would be a late 1st round pick or a high second round.

Of course if he measures in at 6'8" it won't happen.

IDK how to move this to the other thread - but here are 2 people talking 1st round for Davies at the start of last season.

I see one person with a very specific qualification of the 1st round talk. And one person who made comments before the season started and made all of four posts after that as well.

But, yes, I can concede there was SOME talk of Davies being a first round.
