Bronco is an above average coach. we are lucky to have him. has he made seriously bad decisions yes, but he has a lot of seriously good decisions as well. He has done well with what he has to work with. i hope he makes it a bcs bowl before he leaves byu.

This I agree with completely.

He's also had to suffer through a very bad QB and OC coach, but again, it's a lot of his fault for getting rid of the much better Anae because of the fan's demands.

On another note, if you take out all of our loses this year, we're undefeated.

Look, I know that this is hard for you to grasp but here it is: I said that the Win/Loss record doesn't show that he is phenomenal. That's all I said. Fifth-winningest active head coach in the country sounds really good until you look at the teams BYU has beaten and has lost to. This year being a prime example.

Yes, so the win/loss record DOES show that he's phenomenal. The year to year schedule of who he beat might not. I know it's hard for you to grasp, but the win/loss record means just the numbers of wins and losses, and just looking at that, and comparing it to other coaches, Bronco does look phenomenal.

I'm undefeated playing basketball against my 11 yr old. That means I'm a phenomenal basketball player.

I find your obsession with calling Bronco phenomenal amusing though. Whittingham's record is only a couple of games worse than Bronco's. Is he phenomenal too?

If you compared your record only to other men who played basketball vs. their 11-year-olds and yours was the best, wouldn't someone looking at just that evidence alone think you were phenomenal compared to the competition?

I've not once called Bronco phenomenal, so how could I be obsessed with calling him that? I have merely been pointing out what you've repeatedly tried to back track and dodge, which is that you were not just mistaken, but sorely and woefully mistaken, when you said that Bronco's win/loss record showed that he was not phenomenal. That's all. I completely agree that the last several years have been mishandled, that many of the wins under him have come vs. very poor competition, and that the bungling of the Jake Heaps situation has led to QB problems and program problems for several years. What I will say, though, is that Bronco's win/loss record is one of the best, and if you're trying to use it to show his weakness, you're acting foolishly.

Honestly Anae was not a good OC. Doman is proving to be no better, but we didn't know that at the firing of Anae. It could be that Branco saw that Anae was not a good OC, and he decided to let him go based on his perception, and not the fans' complaining. I hope we get a good OC, but just because this one's no better than Anae doesn't mean that it was the right decision at the time.

Not sure what I did to get you so worked up, but it is entertaining on an otherwise slow day.

He's an angry Schmoe. He must be a south-pole Schmoe.

Thank you for placing this, so it removes the burden of saying something about the aforementioned exchange from anyone else. I would have probably dropped a Big Lebowski quote or something.

Let's just rephrase northerncougar's words to better state what he meant and what we all know he meant to prevent Schmoe from going postal.

Bronco's win/loss record in meaningful games (evenly matched or slight underdog or even slight favorite, especially against rivals) is abysmal! (Does that accurately describe how you are feeling northern?)

I agree that just because our current OC isn't great, yet, doesn't mean letting Anae go wasn't the right decision. It may mean we didn't make the best hire when we let Anae go.

From everything I keep hearing about the behind the scenes situation with Heaps (learned more tonight from a very inside source), Bronco lost control of the team, let a virus work from the inside (who happens to be an injury ridden senior we only have to tolerate one more game), and we have reaped the results of that virus for three years. Again, allowing Riley to destroy the last 2, arguably 3 years, is all on Bronco. How anyone so below average in skill and selfish in person can garnish so much power and respect on this team, I have no idea.

Again, as important as it is to be liked, it is more important to win, and it is more important to be liked by the fans IMHO. Football is for the fans. If the fans aren't happy, it is usually because the coach isn't performing.

I will go on the record stating I want Bronco and Doman for one more year. They deserve a year post Riley with some of the big games at home. But if we lose to Utah again, if our offense looks anywhere near as pathetic as it has the last three years, and if we lose games due to poor clock management and dumb personnel decisions, I will want both of them gone to re-establish a new image at BYU.

Our current QB has had a very bad year but that doesn't mean benching the last, even worse QB wasn't the right call.

If firing Anae was the right move even though we got much worse with Doman, benching heaps and red shirting him this year was the right choice.

For the record Riley has only ruined ONE season at BYU - 2012. He was a non-factor in 2010 (due to injury) and saved the season in 2011. Stating otherwise is tryinh to rewrite history.

I think people keep saying three years because they are being revisionist. In part they look in the past and see Lark as the answer all along, based on one game against a terrible New Mexico State. Lark may well have been the answer this year, but he was not ready three years ago, and he was not in the same league as Heaps and healthy Riley last year. I think once Healthy Riley no longer existed, the change should have been made to Lark this year--about the time that he was practicing all week to play against Utah. Who knows how the Utah, Boise State, etc. games go with Lark getting all the snaps. But that is only relevant to this year. Not the last three years. Heaps screwed up last year. He should have been the starter but he was awful. Heaps basically did pretty well the year before after Riley was too injured to play. So, again, Riley has only submarined this season.

Yeah. You get it. So does just about everyone else.

The last four years, BYU has played 15 games where they have either been favored by fewer than four points or been fewer than a four point underdog.

Their record is 7-8. 11 of the games have been on the road.
