Ya, we got caught celebrating. Probably a good thing SMC didn't have a time out left because if they did, they would have called timeout and we would have been able to get our defense set.



What a bitter loss, especially after the clutch shot by Haws.

Everyone was getting back on defense, which is what you'd expect.

I was there. I had the best seats I've ever had at a BYU game. 3rd row of the student section, on the corner so the rim wasn't blocking my view. When Zylstra hit those late threes and Haws hit the "game winner", the place exploded. It was incredible. I've never gone from complete elation to complete heartbreak so fast.



It should never have been that close though. Rebounding cost us the game. SMC is ranking 115th in rebounding, we're ranking 16th, but they were crashing the boards like crazy.



Not sure what happened with Carlino. 1st half he was playing great. Passing the ball, great shot selection. Then, in the second half, it's like he said, "eh, what the heck, I'll just drive to the hoop every chance I get." Was out of control, horrible shots. Wasted 4 or 5 possessions.

Would have been nice to see someone defend the inbounds pass to make a direct throw down the court more difficult, also would have been nice to have a guy on Dellavadova's hip so he didn't get the inbounds pass.

So tired of hearing about this.

I'm tired of hearing the truth as well. Why was he so quick to go double team the guys on the perimeter that Haws was already playing tight D on? Well at least we only have to see it for a couple more months.

The Big Difference in this game was a 1 in 20 shot. I hate Hellavadova. I hope he goes to hella bad place. Freakin smart, savvy, tough player. He will play at the next level while Brandon Davies will be sitting on the bench--in foul trouble.

But the real difference in this game is SMC shot nine more times than BYU. They out rebounded us at home by 7 and were +5 on the offensive boards.

Josh Sharp was neutralized. I Love that kid, but as I predicted, he wouldn't be as effective vs the better WCC teams because of size. He simply isn't large enough and was getting pushed around. Bt still glad he's on the team.

Brandon Davies. What can I say. ZERO rebounds. I will post a separate thread on him. SadlY his fifth foul was no worse than Dellavadovas shoulder lowered charge on Austin, the second time, which would have fouled him out. Freakin refs. What a joke.

We needed a big body in there for a while. We needed Kaufusi in there banging there bigs around. I get that he might not be ready yet. But SMC out-physicalled BYU on the boards.

Carlino is fortunately mixing some great with some of the previous bad, but overall with a bad back, solid game. Credit Wnder and even Zylstra for some contributions.

Hopefully the Committee will look at this loss with an improbable buzzer beater throw Rose a little benefit of the doubt.

BYU will not get credit for losing a 16 point lead and losing on a buzzer beater. It will go down for the committee as a loss to St. Mary's and is going to look bad.

Sorry, I'm late to the party. Delvadova (sp?) is one heckuva' player, but man is he a whiny little b*tch. Every single call against SMC he was talking at the official and looking shocked. Dude's a good player, but makes himself look like an @$$#0!% on the court.

I didn't believe it at first. Took my breath away. I haven't felt like that since the dukies beat UK the same way.



I hope that doesn't take the wind out of their sails. We have been playing great ball and need to keep it going!

Della should have been fouled out with the obvious charge right before Haw's "game-winning" shot.



BYU should have had an in-bounds defense setup to make sure anybody but Della got the ball.



Davies shouldn't get 3 stupid fouls 30 feet from the basket.



Carlino really struggled in the 2nd half, I'll attribute it to his back spasms and not to poor decision making and wild play, his game play in the last 4 or 5 games has earned him that benefit of the doubt.



Lots of reasons the Cougars lost, unfortunately most of them are on them.

Can we settle on Delly's name once and for all..... based on his constant whining to the officials, I say we call him "HelluvaDiva"



And also, can we make a Mormon drinking game to play while watching St Mary's. Everytime HelluvaDiva flops or complains to the officials when they make a call that goes against him or his team, we take a swig of full sugar Dr. Pepper. I it's my belief that after the game we'd all need to pee like a racehorse, and be unable to sleep for three days.

Are you talking about all instances of complaining or just the televised ones? If we want them all we're going to need a keg of Dr. Pepper and someone at the game texting constantly.
