I don't think the sky is falling but it makes me chuckle when people immediately go to that when someone is not happy with the state of things. Look at schmoes post about what happened in this game he said it better than I did.



A good team makes the NCAA tournament. This team won't. That's as simple as it gets for me. If they do, wonderful. It means they got better. I'll be thrilled.

Basketball hasn't been marred with 3 years of PG controversy. If we don't make the NCAA tourney, it will be the first time in 6 years.



Plus, the illusions of grandeur are much higher among the football team than the basketball team. Perfection is needed in football, so any slip up carries more significance.



BYU is a football first school - the oldest sibling that has to carry the load. Basketball, volleyball and women's soccer are the fun little siblings.
If by "marred with controversy" you mean "poor play", I'd have to counter that Rose is right on Bronco's heels. Carlino has been streaky, Cusick has generally been mediocre at best. Both BYU QB and PG positions have simply been doing the best with what they have. I'd say it's another similarity more than a clear tip of the scales in Rose's favor.



The real difference is that football fans just "know" that the guy on the bench could have won every game and taken BYU to a BCS game. Their expectations have just been way too high in the sky. Basketball fans use Austin Ainge as the standard. Football fans use Steve Young and Detmer. Basketball fans are happy to get to the tourney, football fans suddenly will settle for nothing less than BCS glory.

Some people do not like sports at all - some of those seem to build up a resentment. Get tired of hearing about it. One actually tried to Jimmer The Jimmer.



Non revenue sports players and fans of really good teams like Women's BB, VB, and soccer at times or men's VB or Rugby probably get tired of hearing about BB and FB. Some resentment builds up.



It is becoming clear to me that some BYU BB fans resent football and are tired of playing second fiddle.



Personally, The Bibster likes all BYU sports. I have a favorite. I have a next favorite. I do not have time to watch every sport every game.



But, I watch every FB and BB game possible and have been known to watch the others when I get a chance - Thanks BYU TV.



BYU is well positioned in almost every sport. Enjoy it.

If Austin Ainge is our standard, then I guess our basketball standards are a lot lower than I expected, Wow! Danny Ainge seems like a more likely comparison.



In Carlino's defense, wrubell's stats being tweeted to the right are pretty impressive in Carlino's favor:



In 2013, Carlino has more steals than TO (14-11); 17 ppg, 47% shooting, 46% 3 PFG, 26 assists to 11 TO. Scoring double figures 5 straight games.

Conference play, rebounds up from 2.9 RPGs to 5 RPGs.



Looks like Carlino is doing great since getting his shot back. I'm not sure why he is getting bagged on so much. If Davies gets back to his usual form, we will have a triple threat that will be difficult for anyone in the WCC to stop. I'm still very optimistic about the rest of this season.
