Rose is failing to make adjustments on D' tonight so far......Winder on the bench all night doesn't help. We're going to lose to SF at home. That's unacceptable.....Teams around the league are getting better while we are getting worse. Then Zylstra chokes twice at the end of the game when it matters most. Make that 3 times......who passes on a 3 and dribbles into the key and bricks a floater when we are down 11. Our Man D' has to improve

USF's biggest run came with Winder on the floor. I'm sorry, but he's not the huge defensive stopper you all make him out to be.

Can you say Jackson Emery? Now that guy was a defensive stopper. Loved watching him play.

Anyone still want to argue that this is a tourney team?

I do.

This is a tourney quality team.

No, it's not.

Haws is great, but even his FT's have been lacking lately. Davies is soft and doesn't have the presence in the middle on offense we need from him, and the other bigs are a step down from him. Carlino is either great or awful, sometimes in the same game. The rest of the team is okay at best. We have one guy we can count on.

This is not a quality tournament team. We lack consistency as Schmoe said. We also lack talent.

You just described 95% of the teams that will be in the tournament. Do I think this is a final 4 team? no. But would they compete in the tourney along with the rest of the 12-16 seeds? yes.

Learn to enjoy this team for what it is. It's been another good year, and we won the most important game of the year, utah! right? (I hate the utah = most important game of the year notion BTW)

HA. This team will still be better than North North Dakota state cheerleaders who win the Northern Central conference tournament. So, no.

I think Losing Jackson emery, someone who knew where to be in the zone at all times and how to shut down a shooter if he was playing man, is the biggest loss to BYU basketball the last 2 years. Even bigger than losing Jimmer.

So, because we MAY be better than another team who also doesn't deserve to be in, that automatically means that we do deserve it? I'd check the logic again on that one.

Man....we really need to find another Keena Young in the JC ranks for next year.

I agree completely that beating Utah is good but Utah is awful and we barely beat them. It's okay to admit this team isn't good and is definitely not an NCAA tournament team. To argue otherwise just makes you look silly.

I agree and I would add Hartsock was also a big loss. He had heart and basketball sense.

BYU is just a bad shooting team. Not enough guys can make shots consistently. Not enough guys shoot better than 50% from the floor (2). Not enough guys shoot better than 37% from three (2). Not enough guys shoot better than 75% from the FT line (4 - but only two of those averge more than 1 FTA a game).

Bad and inconsistent shooting teams play poorly and inconsistently - and when they run up against good teams - they struggle mightily.

BYU can't shoot - so they can't win.

This team did have its flashes. 85-60 vs Montana. 97-71 vs Virginia Tech. 82-64 @ Santa Clara. But those flashes have proven thus far to be more of the exception than the rule. Some pieces (Haws) will be in place next season, and some question marks (Carlino, etc.).

This team would be an awesome 3-3 team.....but when it is five on three, well that's tough

IMO this team has enough talent to win most games-but we lack the focus to prevent turnovers and defensive mistakes. The players make the mistakes but Rose should have been able to clean this up by this time of the season.

BYU scored 87 points! BYU's shooting is not great. They shot 42% from the field and 31% from 3-point range. But they still scored 87 points!

This loss is ENTIRELY on BYU's defense. BYU should not have to score 90+ points to win a game. The defense left USF shooters WIDE OPEN all game. USF wasn't hitting all their shots in the first half, but boy did they get into a rhythm in the last 10 minutes. Give credit to USF for hitting their shots. A couple of guys had career games. But BYU was clogging the middle when they should have been jumping out to contest the shooters.

And why in the world didn't BYU take it inside to Dickerson when he had 4 fouls with 6 minutes left? If Dickerson fouls out, USF has absolutely no inside presence and BYU easily wins the game playing man-to-man with a hand in every shooter's face.

It gave me a glimmer of hope in the previous game when their guy fouled out. Didn't seem to help. But yeah - go after a key guy with 4 fouls. It is supposed to help.

It's fun watching the games, but yeah we look amazingly slow out there on D. For the most part that has only been against the best of our schedule but the last game changed everything. I really hope the new recruits make a difference next year.
