Cougs_RuleAgreed. Doesn't seem like Rose has even tried Haws at the two. I still think Sharp and Z at the three would have been much better. But I do trust Rose.

I think that rose has realized that the onlychance we have at winning games is if haws scores 20 to 30 a night. Haws is not a good man defender,at least not at this point post mission, and could not guard the 2, and he's not very good at zone either. Or at least roses version of the zone, with guards running around back and forth and tripping over each other all of the time.
I think Rose is just trying to save him for the offense its side of the court.

As much as I would like to see Haws at the 2, he can't defend it. He may improve over the season, but Haws would get beat off the dribble every time.
As for the idea of BYU's guards tripping all over each other, that's preposterous. While we're relying too much on the zone for my tastes, Rose' version of the zone did a good job of keeping BYU in the game against Gonzaga, and against SMC our zone took SMC down to final seconds of the shot clock all night long.
Part of the reason we had to use the zone so much this year is because Haws' defense is nonexistent. Throw in Zylstra, who also struggles keeping his man in front of him and zone it is.
I suspect we'll see more zone next season.

I don't think that you and I are watchng the same team... I certainly haven't seen the guards tripping over each other "some of the time," let alone "all of the time." You should consider watching this team some time, it's actually pretty fun... moreso than just grousing around in your underwear and being mad at the world...

I've seen every game this year. Our defensive rotation is some of the worst I have ever seen. We regularly have guys running into each other and guarding the same man (happens normally around the top of the key).
As for me being "mad at the world", nice strawman attempt there, but I am entirely fine with most things in the world. BYU's abysmal defensive plan (which basically puts the inside guys on the perimeter, and the outside guys guarding the key to any team that pays attention) is not one of the good things in the world.
I don't think that you actually watch the games, at least not carefully.

Fair enough, I *have* seen our guys smash in to each other, and get tangled up on defense. It happens about once a game, actually.
NEGATIVE SLANT!!!

Agreed. Jimmer had a hard time deferring to, who was it, Lee Cmmard? Until he had virtually a no holds barred, green light, he struggled. We can only hope that Carlino earns that and can utilize is strengths and then he and Haws can create a dynamic duo approach next year. Haws will improve his three point shooting over the summer.
