It is shocking to me that he is still playing in this game, after such repeated man to man failure. Coaching failure.

Davies how have you played ball for 15+ years and never learned any move except for a baby hook that is 50/50? Wow bro.

Every loose ball goes out on us. There's Austin on the floor again with no results. Amazing.

Typical 2012-13 BYU right there. We make a steal but then throw it away on the break.

Cusick and Zylstra. Thanks for the "effort." Good luck selling insurance, or whatever. Rose gets outcoached again.

Interesting quote: last place LMU still in the tournament, #3 ranked BYU out of WCC tourney. Sad performance - SD had more heart, more intensity, more confidence...

oh wow, some coach Rose criticism. Unfortunately, I think the criticism dam is about to break on Rose's head.



BYU had a BAD year. It was doomed from the get go, no matter the coach. They simply didn't have the horses in the stable to get it done. I appreciate the team. I'll leave it at that.

Who should we have had in instead of Carlino?

Someone that has a better TO to Ast ratio. 4 to and 2 ast does not sit well with me. He got seven rebounds because we went 1-16 in a 7 min stretch. We nor USD could hit the broad side of a barn! I do admit I could only listen as I was spending the night with my loving wife for the first time alone without our 2 yr old daughter in 2 yrs and 4 months at Little America which doesn't even have ESPNHd let alone ESPNU. Stupid ESPN3 was blacked out (?) and I listened to the game on the radio. I could only hear the call and it sounded bad. Give me a break. Just totally frustrated at our guard play all year. Spoiled by the Jimmer days I guess.

Zylstra is a close second..........at the end of the game when they were playing man defense Zylstra totally lost track of Dee and allowed him to get an easy 3 in the corner, not to mention when Zylstra fell down trying to steal the ball giving Dee another open look at the 3. Rose did not play the right guys at all for defensive purposes. Ambrosino was much better at holding his own in the post than both Austin and Sharp tonight. Calvert, Delgado, and Winder should have all seen more time tonight to help out defensively. I'm sorry but Rose continually had the wrong players on the floor tonight

I bet against byu, while in Vegas... And have already 3x my winnings. Thank you BYU for loosing... I knew you could do it! Finally my pessimistic attitude about BYU sports has paid off.

And that person is?



He got 7 rebounds because he is one of our only players that hustles and goes after the ball on defense. He is a good player. He is *far* from the reason we lost, which was clear to anyone that watched the game. Carlino was good, is good, and will probably continue to be good.



BYU lost this game in the first half, and they lost it because Davies was only posting one out of every 3 times down the court, though it was open for him to do all night. We only started coming back when he consistently went down low. Listening to the game on the radio doesn't tell you this.



Davies also gave up *multiple* offensive rebounds, and got called out for them by the announcers even, they were so obvious.



He played a great game in the second half, but his first half effort was nonexistant for the majority of 20 minutes.



The *real* reason we lose this game? Cusick and Zylstra couldn't defend a 65 year old lady with MS. They were *so* bad and gave up so many wide open looks and drives to the basket all game, and contributed NOTHING on the offensive side of the ball. They were a net negative for the game, and Rose keeping them in was bad coaching after he switched to man. Rose realized this finally, taking Cusick out of the game with 2 mins left, but by then it was too late. Rose switched to man, which was a good move, but then played our two worst man defenders. Who then repeatedly got burned. Game over.

No doubt - you did your part. But, if you'd been guzzling Coke Zero w/ a lemon wedge and 2 bags of Frito's, it would have altered the game for the Cougs. There's powerful karma in those greasy corn chips.

No one looked good in that game, not a coach, not a player. No one. Carlino struggled pretty badly, with several completely unforced turnovers and bad shots. I honestly don't believe anyone who understands basketball could argue that anyone on the roster played a good game last night.

Correct. Davies, Haws and Carlino all played a great second half, but no one looked good in the 1st half. To go into it down by only 7 was practically a godsend. BYU played nearly well enough to overcome it, but were slowed down by the dragging feet of Zylstra and Cusick on defense.



I said it in this thread: There isn't a senior on the team that I would want back for one more year, including Davies. I am tired of watching 6'3 guards step in front of him and get offensive rebounds for putbacks and/or fouls.



If he could figure out a way to give effort for 35 minutes a night and play somewhat smart he would be a special player at the college level. He doesn't and won't, so he isn't. Hartsock would have done more with this years' team than Davies has, in his place.

There's only one player I'd demand to have back next year: Haws.



Carlino can return but the dude needs to work on his mental game hardcore. Right before the half we had a chance to cut the lead to 4 and get a nice run going and he, completely unguarded throws the ball 10 feet over everyone's head and out of bounds. Like I have said before, he has physical tools, and in low pressure games he has shown them, but add in any kind of pressure and he gets frantic and out of control and costs us valuable possessions.



I think if he has the humility to sit down and work with Haws on the mental aspect of the game all summer he'll be a much improved player next year.

That was nice of the basketball team to want to limit the amount of time Bronson well miss from spring practice.



Can we just get him back in pads now?

Agreed. Davies had a few brief moments in the second half, that's it.



Carlino had his lunch stolen and was out hustled several times by a guy nearly a foot shorter. I think he's a good player but he didn't have a great night.

That was Calvert. He was throwing to Carlino. We need Carlino next year, and it will be good to have him be "the man" at point and not have Cusick on the bench waiting to take minutes from him to go stand in the corner and wait for a 3.
