Has anyone checked the I Ds of the team? They just don't seem to be the same guys that staggered through the end of the season.

I am liking this a lot better than one and done in the ncaa.

I'd bet on them against Gonzaga and any other WCC or MWCteam at this point.

Great game Cougs. Team is playing loose and having fun. Rose seems to have finally figured out a rotation that works. Took him long enough.

I like seeing Austin playing better. Carlino and Haws making connections left and right bodes well for us too.

I think the pressure to compete got to our guys a bit this last season. They lost sight of having fun. Good to see them having fun out on the court and I'd rather watch these entertaining games than watch us flounder in the NCAA tourney.

It was a great game, but Carlino was hitting some crazy shots. I wonder if they will go in on the road. We might have to grow up and play disciplined ball to win the next one.

I'd be curious to see how some of you feel about BYU's success in scoring 90 points against a slow-down team, and outrebounding them by a considerable margin - all the while playing largely a zone defense.

Coach Rose has shown in this tournament that he can adjust as needed. Nice win last night. I definitely got worried when Mercer made a couple of runs, but it seemed like every time they got close, Carlino or Zylstra would nail a 3.

If they can keep up this kind of confident play on the road, I like their chances tomorrow!

I still think Rose played Cusick too much. Our defense sucked even worse when he was on the floor. He gets beat and then fouls to try and make up for it. Then he gets this stupid look on his face like "what did I do?" Overall good game but I think we blow them out by even more if we had played more man defense using Calvert and maybe Winder instead of Cusick just like during the Washington game. I really like when Calvert is in the game and runs the point with Carlino. It allows Carlino to play off the ball more and get his feet set to hit shots and at least Calvert will attack and drive to the hole. Cusick just stands on the 3-point line trying not to screw up. There was a play last night where Cusick and Haws were on opposite ends of the floor and then they both rotated towards the back of the key and Cusick could have easily set a screen to free up Haws for an easy mid-range jumper but Cusick just ran through key trying to avoid contact. Why not help the best player on your team get the ball???.......just my observation. Austin has been a pleasant surprise the last couple games. He hasn't been hitting the floor all that much as of late

To be fair, Cusick only had 2 fouls.

There was a problem with the game and with the Washington game. The bench did nothing to contribute to the score. We'll need some sort of bench point production to keep playing

Agreed - Sharp being hurt thins out our bench even more. At the same time the guys on the bench have to see more playing time in order to contribute. Let Ambrosino and Calvert see more playing time

Agreed Beasuo. Calvert is the only player on the team that takes the ball to the hole with any frequency. I really like the way that Calvert and Carlino play off of each other.

I wish we were at midseason, because I think that Carlino and Calvert would be the way that we are trending in a lineup together. I have been saying that Cusick gives you nothing at the point quard position for years now, and I am glad that Rose noticed. I think he (Cusick) still needs to play at the 2 position as a sub because we don't have a reliable 3 point shooter, and he has been more reliable than anyone at that. But our defense does suffer with either he or Zylstra playing the guard spot.

No way man. Don't change a thing. Keep playin' loose and have fun out there. This is a whole different team and I think what Gunk said carries a lot of weight. BYU looks like they did in the preseason when they were smacking VT and Weber around. I think it was too much discipline and structure that got into BYU's head.

I like Calvert, but I cringe watching him handle the ball. And his decision making can be worse than that of Krytonite Carlino.

Calvert is probably the best ball handler we have, other than Carlino. He doesn't make the best decisions sometimes, but he is very young, and that happens. I would rather see us lose the ball trying to make something happen on offense, rather than everyone stand around the key not moving and pass it laszily around, and then have to jack up a closely guarded desperation 3 with 2 seconds to go on the shot clock.

I like seeing motion and effort. This BYU team has it since they started running. My guess is that we go away from it against Southern Miss at their place, play "conservatively" and lose because of it. I hope Rose doesn't go back to the way things were. That would be his biggest mistake yet this season.

Agreed but at least Calvert tries to do something "outside the box" in our offense. I think if Calvert had received more playing time earlier in the year his decision making would have improved by now. Having your 1/2 guards being able to handle the ball and shoot seems like a no brainer

Agreed. Hope he keeps developing. Just wish he had someone in front of him a little more solid.

I like Calvert's confidence. His ball handling and decision making needs some serious work. I think Winder has better handles than Calvert.

That may be the case but Rose isn't going to play Winder enough to make a difference

Winder has much better handles. Calvert is on par with Zylstra in respect to handles.

I'd like to see Calvert practice his free throws.
