Or do you put KC at the 4 and go 4 guard. Gives up height but there's good rebounding.

I refuse to slate an RM into our starting rotation until I have seen him back in practices for a couple of months. Maybe around late Summer I'll be ready to plug KC in somewhere, but until it's clear he has some legs, I'll assume bench or RS.

He and all RMs need the Haws formula.

I believe all RMs in BB and FB should redshirt one year to get back in shape. We've seen too many injuries, or like Haws running out of energy toward the end of the season. I think one good year to get back in shape would remedy that.

Oh I hope KC doesn't get anywhere near playing PG.

I agree, assuming KC will be ready to go and be in better shape than those we have ready is a tall order. I hope Rose is going into it with an open mind. Haws is exception.

KC played substantially as a freshman. True freshman, iirc.

Do you think he might have a little upside?

With RM's I just hope they reach their Freshman level of play.

KC did play heavy minutes as a freshman and I think he did a pretty good job. His output, wasn't nearly on the same level as Haws' freshman year, though.

Haws - 26 min/game; 11.3 pts/game; 4.2 rebounds/game; 1.5 assists; 1.2 turnovers; 0.7 steals; 50% from the field; 92% from the freel throw line; and 37% from the 3 points line

KC - 26 min/game; 5.8 pts/game; 5.1 rebounds/game; 2.1 assists; 1.6 turnovers; 1 steal; 48% from the field; 57% from the free throw line; and 25% from 3 point line

KC was hardly a juggernaut his freshman year. Haws averaged as many min as KC did but scored twice as much. KC did a good job rebounding and moving the ball. KC is a horrible shooter.

Assuming KC is able to get close to the same shape he was in before his mission (tall order for an RM), do you think he'd be better than a player we already have on the roster? I doubt it.

Let's take Sharp, for example:

Sharp - 18.5 min/game; 4.4 pts/game; 3.9 rebounds; 0.7 assists; 0.7 turnovers; 0.4 steals; 57% from the field; 72% from the free throw line; and 33% from 3 point line.

Both Sharp and KC mostly played the 4. Sharp averaged 8 min fewer than KC. On a points/min basis, Sharp edges out KC. Every 4 min Sharp hauls in a rebound. Every 5 min KC grabs a board. Sharp shoots better from the field, from the line and from 3 point land. Sharp improved dramatically last season and I suspect he'll continue to improve. KC hasn't played ball for 2 years. If it were up to me, unless a miracle took place and KC developed a shot while not playing ball, I'd start Sharp over KC or certainly take a long hard look at it.

At the very least, I hope Rose isn't married to the idea of starting KC. I think we have players in better condition ready to play.

As I mentioned, our biggest weakness the last two seasons has been at the 2. We need a shooting guard. KC can't shoot! Sharp shoots better than KC.

I am not convinced Sharp will fully recover and be in shape to play. Maybe. Maybe not. There is not much difference between freshman KC and Junior JS overall contribution. The freshman has more upside. KC was not a great shooter. Neither was CC. They both got to the hoop a lot - not great finishing, though. The freshman has more upside.

I am happy to see how it all plays out - but no need to bash KC. He has been living right for 2 years. That right there should make him a straight shooter.

I'd take 5 and 5 next year from KC. BYU needed help on the boards.

My point in comparing KC to Josh is that we have players that are in game shape that are able to perform at the same level KC did before his mission.

To expect KC to come off a mission and be the teams' saving grace is unrealistic. I also hope Rose isn't married to the idea of KC as starter.

If my language comes off as "bashing" that's not my intent. I'm just pointing out his game.

By "straight shooter" I assume you refering to his character as opposed to his shooting ability, right? ;)
