Yes. One of Baylors strengths.

Yeah. This Baylor team scares me. It's a bad matchup, IMO.

They have strong post play, so we have to double the post - or risk Davies' foul trouble. And we're slow in rotating and getting back out to three-point shooters - which Baylor has.

I'm not sure we will win.

Baylor has our kryptonite. A fast and strong PG that can hit the outside shot and big men that can rebound and block shots.

At least we're not at their place, but this will take the best effort we've seen all season to beat them. Possible, but unlikely. I just don't see Davies and Carlino having success this game and Zylstra has disapeared again long athletic teams his entire career.

I would prefer not to be prophetic here, but the box score tells you all you need to know about Carlinos D on Jackson and Zylstras game against Baylor as a whole. Not a good matchup

Biggest hole on our team the last two seasons has been at the 2. If we want to go anywhere next season we need a legit SG.

What about Haws at the 2 and Collinsworth (who I think should consult with Haws about getting into shape) at the 3. Hopefully Austin, Mika and Worthington will fill 4 and 5.

Only thing that worries me about Haws at the 2 is his ability to defend the 2.

We need to get back to our man defense and Haws, unless he improves his lateral speed, would get beat off the dribble every time.

But the idea of Collinsworth, assuming he's in game shape, at the 3 and Haws at the 2 is appealing. Haws would play the 2 at the next level anyways. Rose also did a pretty good job of working around Jimmer's complete inability and disinterest in defense, but Rose had Emery out there and as good as Carlino's defense is Carlino is not Emery. So, I'm not sure Carlino would be able to pick up Haws' slack out on the perimeter. We'll need Carlino to chip in 15+ points a night, plus play PG, plus cover other teams' best perimiter players. That's a lot on Carlino out there.

Course, Zylstra and Cusick weren't providing much defense either...

Haws is going to struggle guarding man-to-man regardless of the postion he guards.

Try this.

1-Kyle (assuming he's in shape)

2-Carlino (he's a better shooter when he is not the primary distributor--but can do that too).

3-Haws

Or maybe a blend of those three filling the 1-3 duties depending on defenses, opposing players, etc. Kyle could hide with Jimmer being the shooter. I'm afraid his lack of shooting skills cannot be compensated for similarly unless Carlino shows up as a shooter consistently.

And we have the JC All-American guard coming in too from SLCC.

Kyle's ball handling is atrocious. I know he got away with playing a bit of PG in high school, but D1 PGs are a completely different animals. He'd get eaten alive at the 1.

I'd much prefer Carlino at the 1 - that's where he belongs as I think our NIT run shows.

Kyle did a good job playing the 3 and 4, so I'm in favor of keeping him there. I could see a starting lineup next season like this:

1 - Carlino

2 - Haws

3 - Collinsworth

4 - Sharp

5 - Austin

2-Calvert

Bottom Line

Rose has a lot to figure out by November.

Barring injury or transfer or suspension or expulsion - heaven forbid -

Haws will be on the floor

Carlino will be on the floor

There will be a battle for the other spots. Key warriors: Austin, Sharp, Collinsworth, Mika

Lost track: Calvert Mission? Did he already serve? Is he leaving?

Others could step up. The battle is on.

Unless something has changed, don't we lose Calvert to a mission this summer?

I like your lineup. Forgot about Mika.

Yeah, I forgot about Calvert on the mission. I don't want to bank on Collinsworth yet--Haws was the exception, not the typical RM, and I'm not certain we'll ever see Rogers play meaningful minutes again. I also would like to see Haws play at the 3 where he has less pressure to drive and distribute and where he would be more protected from foul trouble. The problem is finding a two or one that can handle and hit from deep to complement (or, depending on the night, compensate for) Carlino. Maybe Delgado will grow into his promise?

How's about this one (now that Halford is official):

1-Carlino

2-Halford

3-Haws

4-Austin

5-Mika

Or do you put KC at the 4 and go 4 guard. Gives up height but there's good rebounding.

A guy named Dave Rose recently reviewed last season and discussed next season. Very recently. He said that Carlino and Collinsworth will both play the point and will also be on the court at the same time. Call it 2 QB if you will, but if KC is playing point and MC is on the court at the same time - there are not a lot of viable spots that MC would be in for that situation. But if MC is playing Point and KC is on the court at the same time, KC might be 2 or 3 or maybe even 4.

Just for fun and exposure - Rose should play KC at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in one game vs a smaller team and see if that gets noticed. Must be pretty unusual. I used to bag on KC a bit and took heat for doing so, but Rose clearly has KC in his plans.
