87, you are right but j jackson, a sharpton, the black woman layer Spiff refers to and the rioters see it completely different. They find him guilty. Do they think trayvon is innocent? I don't know, but do they see this as an opportunity to advance one race over another? Sadly I believe the latter to be the case.

I would disagree and say they see (correctly) the "justice" system keeps their race down.

If the roles had been reversed I think Trayvon Martin pleads out to aggrevated manslaughter (or whatever the Florida equivalent is) long before the case ever went to trial. The question isn't whether Zimmerman got away with it - it's that the system puts blacks at a disadvantage. And no one can dispute that.

If Obama wanted to do something that would actually benefit blacks he would abolish the federal prosecution of any drug charges. But he won't because then he'd lose one more way waste my tax money.

If the roles had been reversed this thing wouldn't have even come to trial.

How is the "Justice System" keeping "their" race down? I assume you mean the black race are being held down by the U.S. Justice system. How is that?

I think Zimmerman has plenty of ammunition to go after NBC and people in the government for defamation based on their deliberately misleading reporting (doctoring the 911 tapes, stating that he was guilty before knowing any facts, etc.). I don't think the DOJ has any case whatsoever.

Not that I expect any of you to even try to feel any empathy with the plight of minorities in our so-called "justice" system but if you don't realize the federal, state and local "justice" systems deliver more "justice" to whites than non-whites you are blind bigots.

Go look up the average sentence for first (or second or any multiple) time white offenders versus non-white offenders for the same crime - any crime - and then come back here and spout your nonsense.

I don't think Zimmerman was or even can be proven guilty (and there's no way any of us can comment on his innocence) but if you think a black man in Zimmerman's situation would not have been arrested and prosecuted (and likely bullied into a plea agreement) you're far more naive than you ought to be.

Do Sharpton and the rest of black America have a reason to be livid? Of course they do. But it isn't because Zimmerman got off, it's because justice means something different when the same attorney prosecutes blacks than it does when he prosecutes whites.

I'd give that to them if they were arguing sentencing, but Zimmerman never made it to sentencing.....and he is Hispanic, so shouldn't they be cheering that the justice system worked for a Hispanic guy?

Apparently Hispanics are no longer minorities...

Just curious - what is your real world experience in the U.S. Justice system exactly?

Two foolish statements, zero facts. Well done.

Yep. Unfortunately - even taking drugs out of the equation - blacks the majority of violent crimes in this nation. And - even more unfortunately - the primary reason for this is the almost complete and total disintegration of the black family. There are too many black boys growing up without fathers. Too many black children are being raised by single teenage moms with little education.

The problem isn't the system. It's the lack of a family structure.

I'm pretty sure jv will say it's the lack of the government to let capitalism fix the problem itself.

Ding! Ding! Ding! There you have it folks, but that is too politically incorrect to say so because it is soooo offensive to point out what everyone already knows--it is easier and more successful if there are two committed parents in the home, rather than one trying to raise children on his/her own. Furthermore, these people are actually choosing this lifestyle. No one is forcing them to engage in it. They are swallowing Hollywood's lies, obviously due to Satan's influence, hook, line, and sinker. The family as defined by God, is central to God's plan, and satan is trying to destroy that plan by destroying the family. Little by little Hollywood has helped make that happen--Soap, All in the Family, Three's Company, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, etc. have all contributed to distracting what is proper sexual relations and what family should be. And current sitcoms are mostly unwatchable for me. I cannot take the propaganda anymore. It is so obvious.

Though satan may win a few battles due to his influence over mankind, he will ultimately lose the war when God has had enough (read Matthew 24 about when the end of tribulation comes prior to the millenium). There is great reason to hope and be optimistic about the future, rather than focus on the bad we know must happen prior to that glorious future.

I heard another disturbing interview last night on Greta van Susteren's show. She had on one of the lawyers of the Martin family. It was a young, black female.

She said that she disagreed with the verdict and that it was wrong. She said that since millions of people outside the court room disagreed with the verdict the DOJ is correct in further investigating this crime.

Then she said something that really bothered me. She said she wasn't just a lawyer. But that she was also a social engineer. It bothered me, because she was basically saying that the law was irrelevant to her social engineer goals.

The verdict didn't fit her goals and so it had to change. The law and the truth of the case are arbitrary and irrelevant to her purposes. What matters are her aims and if she can use the courts she despises to achieve those aims, that is great, but if they don't help forward her agenda, then they can be disregarded.

I saw that interview. Greta - who is the epitome of calm, collected and professional (to the point she comes across boring to some) got angry. Not a little angry. I have never seen Greta Van Susteren get so hot under the collar and she "lit" that guest lawyer up - really put her in her place.

Yeah, I don't think she appreciated the fact that this "lawyer" wasn't really interested in the law or finding justice in the court of law. Justice is what this lawyer determines it is.

In her mind, she is the judge AND jury of what is just and not.
S

Another thing that bothered me was when she suggested the system should be changed so that these kinds of cases aren't so muddy. And what exactly should change?

She didn't like the prosecution or how it presented the case and wasn't thrilled at the jury - specifically that there weren't any blacks on it.

So should we get rid of juries? Just let judges decide? Let's take a poll of people?

Should the default of innocence be changed. She clearly thought GZ was guilty, so should he have been guilty until proven innocent?

I just didn't like anything she was saying and I didn't think she had thought through any of her positions and what would happen if we truly lived in a country like she was describing.

"Do you know that Negroes are 10 percent of the population of St. Louis and 58% of its crimes? We've got to face that. And we've got to do something about our moral standards." Martin Luther King, 1961.

I do not post this to "blame" blacks or excuse white racial problems but to highlight that there is a problem that has not been addressed and is indeed getting worse, and it is the collapse of morals. The racial issues surrounding the Zimmerman case focused on the "suspicions" that Martin was up to no good because he was black. I do not think such profiling is right to do with respect to an individual, but at the same time facts are facts and it is that the black arrest rate is 2 to 3 times higher than their share of the population. Something is wrong, deeply wrong and I think Reverend King was right back in 1961--we've got to do something about moral standards.

I doubt there is any set of laws that can replace the loss of family and the values it can instill in children. And this is true whether you are white, black or brown.

The interesting thing also, is that Zimmerman never indicated Martin was suspicious because he was black, but only because he appeared to be high and was acting erratically. It was the 911 operator that asked for his race. The media then altered the 911 tapes to make it appear as if Zimmerman called in to say Martin looked suspicious because he was black.
