Holder and others don't mind breaking the law in trying to find a law Zimmerman might have broken.

Another factor mitigating against the Martin family bringing a civil suit is that Zimmerman will automatically bring a counterclaim against the parents for Trayvon's assault on Zimmerman, and claimed damages will likely include his criminal defense costs. Remember that TM suckerpunched Zimmerman to start the violence, and as a TM was a minor, TM's parents are on the hook for the damages.

Ted Nugent is already out there advocating that Zimmerman take the initiative and bring suit to Martin's parents before they do it themselves. I don't think that is advisable as it has implications on his 5th Amendment rights, and it will be painted as the ultimate d-bag move by the media--can you imagine Rachel Maddow's conniption if "first he profiles and kills their son, then has the nerve to sue his parents for the outcome!" Much better to play that card as a compulsory counterclaim than as an offensive move.

That article needs a little more research. Says Z misidentified TM as a criminal. Dude was a drug user and a thief, and apparently was looking to get wasted that night (skittles and watermelon ice tea aren't as innocent as you'd think).

Not that I expect any of you to even try to feel any empathy with the plight of minorities in our so-called "justice" system

if you don't realize the federal, state and local "justice" systems deliver more "justice" to whites than non-whites you are blind bigots.

Two foolish statements, zero facts. Well done.

Yep. Unfortunately - even taking drugs out of the equation - blacks the majority of violent crimes in this nation. And - even more unfortunately - the primary reason for this is the almost complete and total disintegration of the black family. There are too many black boys growing up without fathers. Too many black children are being raised by single teenage moms with little education.

The problem isn't the system. It's the lack of a family structure.

Blacks are arrested, convicted, and serve longer sentences for more violent crimes than whites. That is a far different statement than blacks commit more violent aggression than whites.

Justice on Trial is a relatively quick read for anyone interested in understanding why minorities (blacks and non-white hispanics (ie not Zimmerman)) have a real reason to be upset.

Or just google racial disparity and prosecutorial discretion (or sentencing or plea bargaining or bail) and read about why the US (particularly the federal) "justice" system delivers nothing any honest person would consider justice.

As far as my personal experience with the "justice" system - I went to a high school with a population that was 50% hispanic, 40% black, 10% SE Asian with a few whites. I also went to a ward that was 95% white (one other kid and my family). It was an entirely different experience getting pulled over by the cops with my different groups of friends for the same speeding ticket. Oh and my wife was an attorney for the US DA in Southern Illinois (she did white collar stuff mostly but she came home at least once a month talking about prosecutorial discretion for crack cocaine in the vice division).

Oh and the breakdown of the family is a result of government intervention to a large extent. It fails to uphold the contract of marriage between husband, wife and children but it goes even further, undermining the social stigma of out-of-wedlock birth by subsidizing single parent families with food stamps and welfare.

None of which has anything to do with Zimmerman, a black-white-hispanic.

Whatever the heck it means to classify being a hispanic on levels of being white and black.

Unless you're trying to charge that Zimmerman was charged with a much higher degree crime than was warranted due to the fact that he was hispanic (white/black).

How is Zimmerman not a "non-white hispanic"? Because his last name is associated with whites?

If Zimmerman is a white hispanic, President Obama is therefore a white black?

Do you mean how is Zimmerman a "white-hispanic?" Instead of a non-white hispanic?

I believe the preferred term of a white-black like Obama is "halfrican-American."

You and the rest of the posters here often sound like you work for the census bureau why don't you read your forms and try to figure it out? Or you could just open your eyes.

The point is a young black man in Zimmerman's position would have been more likely to be arrested, charged, advised to accept a plea bargain and sentenced to a longer term than Zimmerman or any other white.

Blacks and other minorities have a ton to complain about regarding the alleged "justice" system. George Zimmerman being found not guilty isn't one of them.

The reason black "leaders" call Zimmerman a racist and ask for his head isn't because they see injustice in the verdict, it's because they see injustice in the treatment of every black defendant.

At least you're listening to them call Zimmerman and the rest of you racists now. If they said anything about the tens of thousands of blacks in prison who, if they were white, wouldn't be there at all you'd just keep to your racist ways and not even pay attention.

If I were Zimmerman's dad or mom I'd get on Oprah's show and talk about how George got justice. Many blacks don't get the justice they deserve and end up in jail when they shouldn't. I might even refrain from calling people racist if I though it would change one or two minds -- no chance of that here though.

As long as any of you support the US court and penal system in its treatment of blacks, I'll keep calling you racists.

This is one of the most ignorant diatribes of utter garbage I have ever seen spewed forth on a public forum. That's the nicest way I can put it. No offense to you meant, of course.

Again, you're the one who keeps calling him white or "not a nonwhite hispanic" despite the fact that he self identifies as hispanic (without your "not a nonwhite" descriptor). What's your basis for this? Are all minorities who are 1/2 white classified as "white"? Your argument requires that Zimmerman be white, so I'd just like you to explain your basis for that, because as far as I can tell or Zimmerman can tell, he's hispanic.

Blacks and other minorities have a ton to complain about regarding the alleged "justice" system. George Zimmerman being found not guilty isn't one of them.

So why are they rioting now when the system worked (well, worked in the end because he never should have been charged, much less prosecuted) for a minority member?

As for your ad hominem determination that everyone who disagrees with your screed is ractist, if you'd do some more homework, you'd find out that the injustice in the justice system is actually race-blind--if you control for socio-economic status, a white person is equally likely to take a plea bargain, face charges, or get convicted as a black person of the same socio-economic class and education. See: O.J. Simpson. The injustice in the system is more a factor of (i) knowing to take the nickel and lawyer up instead of thinking you can do it yourself, and (ii) being able to afford a private sector defense attorney instead of taking on a public defender and relying on a less-experienced, more over-worked attorney who is more than twice as likely to plea your case out than a private sector attorney and who doesn't have the time or juice to fight as hard for more favorable plea terms when they do plea you out. It's not a racist element in the system, it's a capitalistic taint on the system that shouldn't be there.

And to what are they pleading - even with this bad legal advice? Well, they are pleading that they are GUILTY of the charges of which they have been accused.

They are ADMITTING they committed these crimes.

Guilt is not a black or white or Hispanic issue. It's a legal issue.

Maybe if greater numbers of black men STOPPED committing these crimes, they wouldn't be charged with them and then wouldn't need to plea out. And eventually you would start to see similar rates to other races.

Charles Barkley has come out and agreed with the verdict. Ya, that Charles Barkley.

And now this:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/19/obama-addresses-trayvon-martin-case-in-briefing-room/

So before, he said that if he had a son, he would be like Trayvon. Now he's saying that he was like Trayvon 35 years ago? This is what Trayvon was like:

He was thrown out of school for having pot

He implied all over his facebook and texting that he sold pot

He had what is very, very likely to be stolen jewelry and a screwdriver(!) (commonly used, according to the cops for break-ins) in his backpack that led to a police investigation days before he was shot

He Facebooked about making--then bought the ingredients the day of the shooting--for a drug drink called Purple Lean (skittles and watermelon cocktail)

He texted (enthusiastically) about how best to break someone's nose and other violent acts

I've tried very hard to accept Obama as President, but I think he just crossed the line. Why doesn't he go back to trying to save Detroit? Oh wait, that didn't work...

Don't forget, though, President Obama also said :

"The judge conducted the trial in a professional manner. The prosecution and the defense made their arguments. The juries were properly instructed that in a case such as this reasonable doubt was relevant, and they rendered a verdict," Obama said. "And once the jury has spoken, that's how our system works."

According to our good friend the JV QB, Obama is a racist. (According to me however, - he's spot on with that comment)

I didn't see that quote from Obama, but that was good of him to say that. He's not a complete idiot I guess. However, he also said this in the same breathe while talking about Trayvon:

Obama said there are "very few" black men who haven't been followed while shopping at a department store -- "that includes me."

Really? I would expect more from a president.
