Here's my rule. It's always ok to transfer TO BYU. It's never ok to transfer FROM BYU.

So depending on which category you fall, determines how I feel about your decision transfer. It's a pretty simple and consistent rule to follow.

At least you are consistently and admittedly hypocritical and blue-goggledly myopic. Credit you. As opposed to some who cant decide if they are the pot or the kettle (Frdbtr).

I am fine with players transferring to BYU and away from BYU. We need players that want to be at BYU. You don't want to be here, leave. You want to be here, come.

This, but there is a corollary exception.

If the coaches wink at you and nod or push and shove you out the door, it is OK to transfer from BYU or at least give up your schollie. In fact, please do it.

I agree with this. The problem I have is the feeling some fans get that the system should have changed for one particular athlete to have stayed. If you don't find the fit here good for you, go somewhere else where it (maybe) will. But don't expect me to wish any player leaving here success. I only root for BYU players.

How marvelously provincial for you. When your teenager decides he's had enough of your family, will you be so objectifyingly dismissive?

These players aren't my children, they haven't been raised by me nor would they appreciate it if I called them up and discussed their future or options with them before they make the decision to transfer.

Something about the pot and kettle springs to mind.

You're a good Joe, Hawk. I alternate between the kettle and the pot--just not the kind Bib prefers. :-)

If my teenager doesn't like living with me, I tell them they have to till they are 18. At 18, they can go live and do what they want. Just don't expect me to support it or provide for them.

I see no difference with BYU players. Want to play at BYU, then here are the rules. Want to go elsewhere, here are the rules. These are adults that have chosen and agreed to play at BYU under certain circumstances. These are children that were born into families with no say in the matter.

I think BYU over the years has gotten a lot better at dealing with students who make mistakes but still want to be at BYU (let's not confuse this with students who make mistakes and don't want to be at BYU).

If I'm going to get fired from my job, my hope is my boss gives me enough notice so I can go get another one.

I see nothing wrong with showing underperformers the door.

THIS

If a boss fires someone and they do not see it coming - except for some Layoffs where the boss may not have seen it coming either - the Boss has failed as a boss and should not be one.

If I'm going to get fired from my job, my hope is my boss gives me enough notice so I can go get another one.
