Most teams that will make the tourney this year would have played 4 quarters and maintained that lead.Italics wrote:We led by 15 with 1:26 left. Rose eased up on his friend.
Most teams that will make it to the tourney this year would have beaten Fresno St. by more than 5 points. Just sayin'.

I don't think I'm being needlessly critical of the team. I'm just saying, there is no I see reason to believe that this year won't be any different than the last few. Doesn't mean we're no good, I just don't see us getting beyond round 1.

I think that our chances are greatly improved this year because we don't depend on one person (ie--Cummard, Plaisted) to get our scoring. Yes, we have Jimmer, but Haws is playing extremely well, Emery is stepping up, even Hartsock is really coming back to where he was pre-mish.

So unless you saw him score 30 pts a game in high school in 6a Oklahoma, dominated both Lopez brothers in AAU, etc. I'm not sure anyone that hasn't seen him then can say that they know where he was pre-mish especially since he gets a mulligan for last year (when he should have been redshirted). Noah is very good but I don't think he's yet close to the form he showed in high school. If he stays motivated, he's going to be a stud for us at the 4 for the next 3 years; and we havent' had a true 4 for over half a decade. He currently dominates BYUs statbook when it comes to rebounds and blocks per minute played and he's not even close to his pre-mish form.

Just to make sure we all understand, Noah did not attend BYU before his mission, has never had a redshirt season (though KSL often calls him a redshirt soph) and got home last year a couple months before the season started, just to injure his leg when the season got started.

If Davies and Hartsock can continue to improve all season, then I think we can win a tourney game; but not if Miles and JT continue to play so poorly. Haws has been a revelation (I never expected him to be so good, so early) , Emery is becoming an all around stud, and our bench is tremendous; the issue is our seniors and their lackluster play.

Just look at our sloppy play against 6-5 Nevada and tell me that this kind of play would get us past a tourney team

Kind of like sloppy fact checking? Nevada is 6-4.
