Wow! What a great start to the bowl season. Congrats Wyoming.

Mostly I'm just happy that the Wyoming fans got to rush the field on their second try.

A few things.

The WAC sucks. I know this isn't news to anyone, but they do.

Carta-Samuels is going to be very good. Wyoming will challenge Air Force for the 4th team in the league in the next few years, and may jump up and beat one of the big 3 every so often.

Having said that, don't leave it up to your kicker as the primary option to win the game. Try and score, and then if it comes down to not making a first down, go ahead and kick it. Had they lost after holding Fresno to 0 points in the first overtime, it would have been disasterous.

Yeah, the cowpokes usually need more than one try to get anything right...

No points scored by either team during the first OT. Crazy Game.

Seriously, big congrats to Wyoming ("MWC! MWC! MWC!"), but when was the last time you saw an overtime game where NEITHER team scored in the first overtime period? That's crazy!

Wyoming beats FSU. The MWC's 5th best team beat the WAC's 3d best team. (And let's not forget that the MWC's worst team, beat the WAC's 2d best team earlier in the season.)

And to think, some want to get rid of Wyoming in favor of Fresno St. :P

Way to represent, Wyoming. 1 down, 4 more to go for the MWC this bowl season.

This does throw out the question, would adding Fresno St. really help the conference? Maybe there could replace one of our bottom dwellers, that is it.

I'd love to play Fresno

This game was bittersweet for me.

Sweet b/c our conference's fifth place team beat the WAC's third place team... and b/c WYO played a great game in front of a national audience... and b/c it makes our 52-0 annihilation of them look even more impressive

Bitter, b/c I had 29 (or so) confidence points riding on Fresno in this game.

One thing they mentioned during the telecast was the FSU had beaten more BCS teams since 2000 than any other non-BCS team. It would be interesting to see that list and where everyone stands on it.

Go MWC! Go Cougs!

Doing a quick review at the NCAA.org stat site, I counted 15 wins over BCS teams for FSU, which was not the most of any non-AQ school. The 3 i counted:

TCU 18

Utah 17

FSU 15

TCU was in a conference with Louisville, South Florida, and Cincinnati, before they left for the Big East, so I counted those games as BCS opponents. Otherwise, Utah has more wins over BCS teams during that span than FSU. I may be off on my count, but I thought I had heard that both TCU and Utah have been the most successful non-AQ programs against AQ teams in terms of winning percentage and total wins.

I think the true tale of beating BCS teams is not in the quantity, but rather the quality.

Quite a few of Fresno's (and Utah's and TCU's) wins have come against name teams that are not actually very good.

I would rather look at statistics of "quality" wins against BCS opponents (not just record, etc.) to see how the non-BCS teams stack up. I guess then you would have to determine what a "quality" win is. 9 wins? 10 wins? Conference champ?
