Jim Sowell to Kent Hance, Re: Mike Leach Offer: "Did you see the 2 sentence story in todays paper that Gary Patterson signed an extension with TCU until 2014 today. No fanfare or drama... kind of like his football program... he has had four 11 win seasons in 6 years. He may have done the best job of any coach in the country the last 6 years. He probably makes half of what Leach does. Think what we could do with that 1 million a year in savigs."

I saw that one two and thought it was funny.

While I think Anae would be a good HC at TT, I seriously wonder at the wisdom of him going there at this time right now should he be offered. You have a fanbase livid, a team that is questionable at best in its loyalties, and a very disruptive environment at best...Talk about getting thrown into the fire.....

Word. You'd have to be some crazy kind of desperate to take that gig right now.

I had no idea that Todd Christensen posts stuff on Cougar Corner ;)

When I coached lacrosse at Pleasant Grove we had crazy problems with the parents wanting to micro-manage everything (not all the parents, there were some very good supportive ones, but many were bad). It got so bad that people with experience refused to coach there and now they have a parent coach and win about one division game a year. Once you screw your own coach, you're going to lose a lot of prospects, maybe TT should get Craig James to coach there...

I'd love to see CJ on the sidelines getting smoked year after year. I'm pretty sure Craig isn't going to be very welcomed in Lubbock for a LONG time.

Umm, why would TT consider a OC at a non-AQ school for their head coach? Especially one that was a Leach hire and disciple. Anae will not be the next head coach at TT.

TT will go get a lower level HC or AQ team coordinator for their next coach. They're going to have to pay them as much or more than they were paying Leach to come in and deal with the issues.

Something to keep in mind here:

"Fired head coach Mike Leach is a BYU graduate...

BYU offensive coordinator Robert Anae was the offensive line coach under Leach before coming to BYU in 2005.

Cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell and wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons are both former BYU players and coaches.

Texas Tech head football trainer Steve Pincock held a training post at BYU before leaving for Lubbock."

Bro. Pincock was my young men's leader growing up. He's a terrific and fun guy and probably the last guy you'd ever want to get in a fight with. It's too bad he works for such a lousy institution.

On another note, here's a short video of Leach responding to this whole mess. I'm much more inclined to believe him than I am the idiots at TT.

One reason Anae may not go anywhere is Famika Anae. His son is getting off his mission and he may want to coach his son.

Check out # 3 of Jason Whitlock's list. He thinks Leach should coach in the NFL, and he really rips Craig James.

IT was so good, I had to post it here for all.

3. Mike Leach is meant to coach in the NFL. He’d be a good fit for Al Davis and the Raiders.

Really, I just brought up Leach so I could bag on Craig James. Wow. The guy is making Todd Marinovich’s dad appear rational. James had been one of my favorite broadcasters. I’ve lost all respect for James. His attack on Leach wasn’t about protecting his son’s health. It was about protecting his son’s bloated, shattered ego.

I don’t have a problem with Texas Tech firing Leach for insubordination. My problem is with the tantrum James has thrown on national TV for the past three days. Standing in a dark garage with a mild concussion isn’t waterboarding.

“I want everyone to know what a privilege and pleasure it has been to teach and coach more than 400 student-athletes at Texas Tech University over the past 10 years.

When I arrived at Texas Tech, the football program was on NCAA probation and the graduation rate was far below the national average. However, in the past 10 years, Tech has been to 10 straight bowl games, has the third best record in the Big 12 Conference, and has the highest graduation rate for football players of any public institution in the country.

Over the past several months, there have been individuals in the Texas Tech administration, Board of Regents and booster groups who have dealt in lies, and continue to do so. These lies have led to my firing this morning. I steadfastly refuse to deal in any lies, and am disappointed that I have not been afforded the opportunity for the truth to be known.

Texas Tech’s decision to deal in lies and fabricate a story which led to my firing, includes, but is not limited by, the animosity remaining from last year’s contract negotiations. I will not tolerate such retaliatory action; additionally, we will pursue all available legal remedies.

These actions taken by Texas Tech have severely damaged my reputation and public image. In addition, Texas Tech has caused harm to not only my family, but to the entire Red Raider nation and the sport of college football.

As you know, I prefer to engage in question and answer sessions; however, in this instance my counsel has advised me to simply make a statement. There will be time to answer questions about this issue in the future, but the serious legal nature of this situation prevents me from going into further detail at this time.”

No surprise- Leach tells how the worthless ESPN-loving SMU-killing piece of crap cheater Craig James goes way out of his way to coddle daddy's little girl, Adam James: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-texastech-leach&prov=ap&type=lgns

I thought this was telling:

When asked about claims that he meddled Craig James called them “absurd,” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said.

Why is the spokesperson for James' employer involved in this at all? Why is ESPN answering questions for James?

Probably because ESPN has finally realized they shouldn't have let James talk about any of it the first place. As soon as it was knowledge that he and his son were integral players in this story, he should have been told to not say anything regarding it. It took ESPN about four of five day to figure out that they should be reporting the story not driving it, which is what they allowed the James' and their agenda to do.

ESPN is still trying to spin this story in favor of Texas Tech Admin./the Jameses and against Leach. Their latest article on the ESPN website even has a statement by the trainer which contradicts his own earlier statment. The new statement makes Leach look worse.

It's interesting to read the comments by posters on ESPN. (I havent' read them all - there are several thousand.) About 70-80% support Leach even though this is ESPN's own website. Apparently many of the posters have seen (on another network) the guided tour on video of the "shed" that the James kid was placed in. And also the video tour of the media room that he was put in the second day. If that first garage is a "shed" then my 3 car garage is a parking garage for a mall. And if the media room is an "electrical closet" then my house is the Taj Mahal.

During one of the bowls yesterday, ESPN took a few minutes to cover the story and showed pictures of a shed like one used for tools in a back yard (one of those 8' by 8' deals.) I hope Leach's lawyer is getting video of all this blatant lying by ESPN, they ESPN) may be opening themselves up for a lawsuit that would make Leach a very rich man.

Coach will have no problem getting a good job after things cool down. James is a baby. He's going nowhere.
