What makes you think Trump would nominate conservative Justices?

He's said who he would nominate. They're Alito and Roberts clones. Not like Scalia or Thomas - the two guys who actually read what the Constitution says. Trump's former campaign manager said he would potentially nominate Andrew Napolitano, who would be more like Scalia and Thomas.

I'm not sure where to lean here between Trump and Cruz. It's terrifying to think of a former prosecutor appointing supreme court justices and we have no idea who Cruz would appoint either. I doubt it would be someone like Scalia or Thomas, more like Roberts and Alito, who aren't terribly different than the current nominee.

He will cause more damage to the United States and the world at large than any other candidate in history. That fact is very clear to me.

We've heard your tired, unsubstantiated argument over and over. You're full of crap. Trump and Cruz are about the same. Pretty much all Cruz has in his favor is that he hasn't said he would build a wall on the Mexican border. Trump has a lot more going for him on foreign policy. Neither of them are great candidates. I don't believe any more words coming out of Cruz's mouth than words coming out of Trump's. Both of them are better than Clinton but not by a whole bunch.

This is coming from a guy who donated to Cruz during his senate run and actually reads what the candidates have said. Not from a guy who can't be bothered to read anything a candidate says.

I don't know that Trump is a Democrat. At one time I think he was. He says he is a Conservative man now. At one time, Ronald Reagan was a hardcore Democrat.

I do know this - Sen. Jeff Sessions (who I greatly respect) is a smart guy and very Conservative - he has endorsed Trump. I don't think Jeff Sessions is a fool.

Former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani is no fool - he's announced he is voting for Trump. He has stated he is not endorsing Trump, but will vote for him. That I do not understand - he's slicing it thin.

Pat Buchanan, who epitomizes being a Conservative, endorses Trump. Pat Buchanan is no fool.

The list goes on and on. So Hawk-dawg, why are you so willing to toss aside a man who says he is Conservative, for a hardcore liberal democrat? It bewilders me.

Yes, Trump has been a liar, a womanizer, is arrogant, and talks out his a$$. Yep. But, if there is a chance he will nominate a Conservative Supreme Court Judge - all good - IMHO.

That is conjecture. Supposition. I understand your concerns - but you don't know for sure because Trump has never held public office. Whereas Hillary does have a track record - and it's death, destruction, lies, and the Middle East falling apart and terrorism expanding at record rates. That is Hillary's honest legacy - not conjecture.

Yes, so exactly what I said in another post.

Hillary Clinton is a stick of dynamite, you've seen the destruction she causes.

Donald Trump is in my opinion a nuclear bomb.

You're argument is elect Trump because so far there's no evidence of what his explosion will look like because he's never had the power to go off.

I say his explosion will be devastatingly worse, exponentially worse. I know this is true for me and my family.

Sort of. I say the best option is to elect Ted Cruz. If that does not happen, the next best option is to elect Donald Trump because any conjecture about how destructive he will be is just that - conjecture. He will rely on the Pentagon and top military advisors - Trump has said he will do so. He will also have the Senate GOP and the Senate Majority leader to consult with. Trump will also have The House Speaker Paul Ryan to consult and the GOP controlled House itself. On top of that, he will have his Cabinet for consultation, and his Attorney General to consult for legal advice.

I don't think Trump will get too far out of line or be anywhere damaging as Obama and Hillary. He just want to control and secure our southern border. Get out crazy deficit spending under control, quit exporting jobs and crushing our economy with regulations (see the coal industry). Stop importing 10's of thousands - actually 100's of thousands of un-checked Middle Eastern immigrants - they must be "vetted" and authenticated instead of the Obama/Hillary open door, welcome aboard policy.

With all dues respect Hawk-dawg - exactly what is Trump the arrogant asshat going to do? I don't see that he will do anything as bad as what Obama has done.

Interesting note- Jacob, son of Lehi, was the prophet after Nephi. He said that 2 great Sins had made the Nephite nation worse than the Lamanites: 1-Pride of wealth, and 2-Sexual sins. Which tends to make me think that Trump would indeed make America a worse nation than it's ever been before, as he embodies those 2 great sins worse than any other presidential candidate that I can think of.

So Hillary, who will bring he's husband Bill Clinton into the White House as a team are not greedy and love their ill gotten wealth? The Clinton's don't embody these 2 sins? They absolutely do.

If it's a choice between Trump or Hillary, there is only 1 choice - based on a whole lot of reasons: Trump. Ted Cruz would be better than Trump. But, Trump is much better than the chronic lying team of Clinton Inc. Absolutely Hillary is owned by foreign govt's and Wall Street.

In all seriousness, there has NEVER been, in the history of the United States, such a brazen and corrupt "Pay to Play" influence peddling scheme as the Clinton Foundation The have brought in over $500 million. 100's of foreign donors were hidden and unreported. Hillary is up to her eye balls in that corrupt scheme and dealing with foreign govt's while she was the Secretary of State. She should be in jail.

So here's the bottom line - as flawed as Trump is, if he actually gets the GOP nomination - you stop Trump folks would actually embrace one of the worst liars and corrupt politicians in the history of the United States? The Clinton's are political mafia.

Eh. Trump has been married 3 times. Hillary's first marriage was to Bill, say what you will about it.

You are upset because Trump has been divorced 3x? Are you kidding me! So what.

My current boss has been divorced 3x. He got divorced because he was a major "player" and a run-around in his younger days. So what. I would walk into fire for my boss. He's smart, highly skilled, great judgment, takes care of his employees - big time. And today, he is no longer the man he was when he went thru those 3 divorces. People grow and evolve.

The difference between Trump and Clinton is - the Clinton's just evolve into being more corrupt.

Hillary does NOT support the 2nd Amendment. She attacks gun manufacturers and gun owners every chance she gets. Trump is a huge 2nd Amendment supporter. Also, Hillary attacks the races cops ate every turn. She supports the dishonest and racist "Black Lives Matter" morons. Trump is a huge supporter of cops and law enforcement, and U.S. Border Patrol. Hillary does not. The difference is stark.

She facilitated the affairs and cover-ups of all Bill's sins. In my book that makes her far worse than Trump. Can you say secret combinations? Bill used his position as boss to coerce his staff and Hillary said it was the women he abused who were the problem. If you're talking about sexual sin Hillary is just as, if not more guilty than Trump.

It is true that Trump would not be the first philanderer to sit in the White House. Still we ought not to ignore the fact that he is a philanderer and proud of it. His being President on that ground alone would be bad for our country. That said, I think we'd survive his philandering boasts and acts. But Donald Trump for so many more reasons than his philandering, is bad for this nation. He is a mercantilist that will damage trade and our economy. His treatment of disabled and religious minorities and liberty is shocking and un-American. His willingness to order war crimes and acts of torture is beyond the pale. His approach to immigration is fraught with misjudgment. His thoughts on nuclear weapons and NATO are scarily wrong. His work history also does not bode well for being the leader of the free world. While he does know how to brand himself, his business endeavors have mostly been unsuccessful or merely nurtured along as the result of crony capitalism (which he boasts of). His nomination will very possibly cause Republicans to lose the Senate. While I am not a Republican (nor a Democrat for that matter), I find that disturbing too. Bottom line for me is that if the Republicans want my vote this fall (and, I believe, a lot of voters like me), they will not nominate Trump. It is pretty much that simple.

One of the countless reasons why so many people are adamantly opposed to Donald Trump is because it has been proven and consistently shown that Trump has less than no chance of winning a general election. If Trump wins the nomination the election is already over and Hillary is the new President.

Well, I'd say if you give up because of a prediction, you'd be foolish. Polls have been wrong before and will be wrong again.

It should be a very big warning sign. Never before in history has a party come close to nominating a candidate that many of the citizens have stated that they would definitely vote against that candidate. It's like starting from a very deep pit.

Of course, I'm one of those people who will definitely vote against Trump, as has been evidenced over the last 8 pages of this topic.
