2005 SMU

2006 Utah

2007 Wyoming

2008 Utah

2009 BSU?

I picked BSU to win on TCU's mistakes.

AFA and Clemson are both potential throw up all over themselves games.

Meh. Yes, TCU had 11 penalties against Clemson and was -3 on turnovers vs. AF, but I wouldn't call those throw up all over themselves games. Those were merely clumsy bad weather games.

I actually see this being a close game. As the boards biggest BSU fan this game has me more worried than if BSU had played anyone else. TCU is very good and very well coached.

Based on TCU's resume and how their bowl teams are winning, they look better by the day and it will be a tough game for BSU to compete with them.

On the other hand, the transitive property of college football doesn't seem to hold any water this year. Team A beats team B, Team B beats Team C, so naturally, Team A should beat Team C. The bowl season has proved otherwise...

I also know that BSU has only been blown out once this decade (Georgia 05'). I highly doubt they will get blown out by TCU, though if any team is capable, it would be the Horned Frogs.

Here is to a good game and good representation from the non-AQ teams. Its just too bad this bowl is such a let down as TCU and BSU both deserved a shot at a name school.

This will be the best team BSU has ever played. They don't have much of a defense. It's going to be ugly.

You could be correct. TCU is a great team, but there is a reason they actually play the games. You sound like Zachsooners just before the OU vs BYU game. Wasnt he saying there was just no way that BYU could even compete with OU?

If BSU has the talent to compete with anyone anywhere, then why can they not compete with TCU?

I could be way wrong here and it could be a major blowout, but I dont see that happening. I'll come back and eat crow if it does. I have been wrong before and at least pony up to my errors in judgement... :)

There is a big difference between preseason smack talk and bowl smack talk. We have a whole season's worth of games to base our analysis. That said, TCU's body of work has been far better than BSU's.

TCU wins going away 35-14

BSU will have to start a freshman agqinst Hughes. The normal starter is out. It also looks like its playmaking receiver Pettis is out. What was looking like a battle is looking more like a dominant TCU win. BUT NEVER underestimate Chris Peterson when you give him a month....

So, if I get this right, you want to analogize someone making predictions based upon watching two teams play a combined 24 games with someone who was making predictions after watching two teams play a combined zero games??? Do I need to elaborate on why that comparison fails?

If BSU has the talent to compete with anyone anywhere, then why can they not compete with TCU?

Um, yeah. BSU has the talent to compete with "anyone anywhere." Their SOS ranking of 98 out of 120 just screams "we play anyone anywhere....especially suckers." Yet, even with that lame-o schedule they still have a smaller margin of victory than TCU, who boasts victories over two currently ranked teams and one other team getting votes by an average of about 21 points (two on the road). BSU, on the other hand, has played only one such team, at home, and only won by 11.

TCU got better as the season progressed. They are the best team in the country right now. You are correct that mistakes will be the reason that TCU loses. Except that Patterson will have this team ready and they don't make mistakes. With BSU's injuries and TCU's incredible speed and talent, BSU will be destroyed.

2009 Air Force... they got it out of their system

This is Cincy - Florida all over again (minus saint tebow, and a better defense in TCU)

this game isn't played on the smurf turf...

Honestly though, I don't know how a team like Boise with a month to prepare for this game can't find a way to move the ball on TCU a little (we know they'll pull out all stops, but it just won't be enough.

If Boise does lose by 30-40, is there any chance that they fall far enough for us to pass them in the polls? Maybe they fall to 10 and we jump to 9?

Biggest win in the history of college football afterwich they are voted number one in the ap poll.

What makes you so confident that BSU will put up 3?

Don't know.... just a hunch.

Which team has 'more on the line?" What is each team playing for? There is always so much talk about motivation during bowl games. Here's what I see:

Both are playing for an undefeated season - a positive for both

Each team wants to beat the their opponant - a positive for both

Both had hopes of playing for something more; a game against an AQ team or maybe even a natinoal title game. And they both got hosed by the system - a negative for both (possible let-down like the Pac-10 cry babies).

The MWC has had a great bowl season and has recieved much positive attention. A win by TCU brings tons of praise for their program and their conference and could have a large 'ripple effect.' a positive for TCU

The WAC is.....well, the WAC. I am on this side of the fence so I dont hear the talk, but are their a bunch of coaches from the WAC really supporting Boise? Or do the Broncos kind of feel like a loner in the conference? If so, then there may not be the larger, conference Esprit-de-corps for them. How big of a statement can Boise make other than we belong in a better conference?

I think TCU has more on the line, hence, more motivation.

TCU is one of the teams to pretty much dominated every team they played. there are other undefeated teams but i don't believe there is another team who beat all the taems they played besides two by 14 points or more.

TCU is playing better than any team right now except maybe alabama. TCU should be playing alabama.

given TCU's improvement form last year, BSU's key injuries, TCU is going to win. I imagine BSU will come out strong in the beginning but by the end of the game, TCU will win easily barring crazy turnovers.

Don't count Peterson out though. I expect TCU to put up some point on TCU, more than BYU did anyway.

It probably won't be a blowout despite my last prediction, but TCU should win this. That said i don't think anybody would be suprise by a blowout. But given the coaches and that both have had a month to prepare, i expect a decent game.

It will be over at half. BSU has 1 bowl win in their last 5. Sorry, but TCU whips them like a rented mule. TCU defense will dominate this game. And BSU has no defense.

TCU 45

BSU 19

Didn't Boise State get out to a 16-0 lead on TCU last year? I can't remember how much the Broncos scored before TCU got on the board...

TCU is much better this year, but Boise State is better than last year as well. I still wouldn't be completely shocked to see a close game, either relatively high-scoring for Boise State or relatively low-scoring for TCU. Though like I said, I do expect a blow-out.

TCU outgained BSU last year 3 to 1 in yards. Turnovers doomed TCU in that game. Last year, turnovers and not finishing drives hurt them v Utah as well. This year, TCU is a machine on both sides of the ball. The TCU D will shut down BSU just as they did last year. Plus, BSU has no deep threat as Pettis is out hurt, and even if he does play will be rusty and slowed. If TCU keeps you in front, they stifle you. BSU will get stifled, and the TCU O will roll per usual. Look at all of the good offenses and skilled players TCU thumped-- BYU, Utah, Clemson, AFA. BSU will be lucky to score 20, but they won't. And TCU will put up at least 38 on that BSU defense as many other teams scored easily on them. BSU will have to score in the 40's to win, as they did v. OU. But the TCU D is way too good for that to happen. #1 nationally. And Coach P gets thes guys up for big games. Jerry Hughes will own the Fiesta Bowl.

It will have the look, feel and result of the Sugar Bowl, although BSU should get some cheap points from their gimmicky offense that Cincy didn't get.

And last year Boise State absolutely dominated TCU in every aspect of special teams.

Didn't you say this same thing LAST season?

[In my Dwight voice] Impossible to say.

FWIW, FL and Cincy didn't play in the Sugar Bowl last year. ;)

In their second-last game, BSU let Utah State hang for almost 2 quarters.

USU is up-and-coming, Andersen can clearly game-plan, and the game was in Logan, but they still are not BCS quality.

Broncos are goin' down.

My prediciton:

TCU 52

BSU 28

with 14 points coming after the game is decided.
