I don't think TCU came to play-----Period. Dalton looked confused, the receivers looked like their minds were on a beach in Hawaii, the defense looked better, but couldn't get to the QB, and the coaches must have been sound asleep. during the afore mentioned series, when Dalton ran back to back QB draws, my wife and I were incredulous. She kept asking, throughout the game, what they were thinking with their play selection. In short, they looked like a team who thought they should have gotten a better match-up.

Boise State is a very good team, and deserves credit for playing a great game, but I really think that TCU should have beaten them by 2 TDs. They should have beaten any team they played, but needed to show up, no matter who they played.

Since when is a ball hitting a receiver in the hands/helmet/shoulder pads ever a bad throw? Are you joking me? You want to blame Dalton for throws that hit receivers in the hands that the receivers don't catch? For balls that hit receivers in the pads or helmet? Seriously? What kind of bizarro world is this? I know the lay fans like to blame the quarterback every time the ball hits the turf, but to blame the quarterback for an interception after the ball hits his receiver in the hands/helmet/shoulder pads is absurd.

Yes, it was "a floater thrown almost across his body and mostly off the back foot with no forward momentum." Dude--the ball hit the receiver and should have been caught or deflected downward by the receiver. I could understand the criticism if it was picked before it got to the receiver, but again--it hit the receiver before BSU touched it. It's the quarterback's job to get the ball to the receiver where he can catch it--who cares whether you throw off your back foot without forward momentum as long as the ball hits the receiver? Once the ball gets to the receiver, it's the receiver's job to bring the ball in (or in the two-minute drill deflect it downward).

Its a bad throw when it is thrown "up for grabs" and gets intercepted. The qb either looks like a genius if the wr gets it or a goat if the wr doesn't get it. This time he was the goat. As for the wr, he had it go through his hands after it went past the hands of the db. If you have ever tried to catch a shielded ball you know that it is nearly impossible to do. It is no wonder it bounced off of him. It was an unlucky bounce because it went up instead of down but thats the breaks. Had the ball be thown with less air under it the wr probably catches it for a first down and play continues. As it stands, the ball floated too long allowing the db to make a play, which he did, and the ball was intercepted-game over. That is when it is a bad throw even if it hits the wr in the hands.

Boise State intercepted TCU 3 times. The crazy thing is they should have picked Dalton off 6 times, with 3 dropped catches by the Bronco defenders...

To the deluded few who honestly believe that BSU>TCU:

BSU got lucky and got TCU on their worst day of the year.

BSU's defense definitely stepped up and had their best game of the year, their offense did as well as any reasonably competent offense does against TCU (but it took a lucky trick play to get to that level).

THe problem is that while TCU's defense did a good job, TCU's offense simply didn't show up. Dalton had a Max Hall vs. Utah 2008 game, but with about half as many interceptions, and half as many pick-friendly passes. If TCU's D wasn't the best, BSU would've hung at least 30 on TCU, but TCU's D IS that good, and while they had an off night, they didn't suck.

TCU's O simply didn't show up, but BSU homers will swear up & down the back alleys behind the bars of Boise that TCU showed up, when any fool can see their the TCU offense that exploded on BYU and Utah simply didn't make it on the plane to Arizona.

I will concede that BSU did in fact go 2-0 against pretty good teams; for a WAC team, that's an accomplishment! BYU was 2-2 against good teams; 3-2 if you count Oklahoma's ranking before we demoralized them and took out their Heisman QB. Perhaps if Boise had played a reasonably tough regular season schedule, they'd have the two to four losses we all know they would have suffered. BYU, TCU, and Utah ALL would have gone undefeated in the WEAK WAC, and deep down, all BSU homers know it.

BSU was decent this year, even good, but they weren't great, and they got lucky as hell last night. If they had played BYU's schedule this year, BSU would have had AT LEAST two, possibly four losses, end of story.

And when I say BYU's schedule, I'm talking about playing a top-of-their-game TCU, not the neutered, turnover-prone TCU offense that made the trip.

And for what it's worth, the MWC has no need of the BSU donkeys; we can make it into the BCS without BSU, and we don't need their classless fans; we plenty of those in New Mexico, Wyoming, and Utah. We don't need to add another classless fanbase to the MWC; did I mention that we have enough already?

Let BSU rot up in the WEAK WAC; they don't deserve the MWC; one lucky game does not an asset to the MWC make!

Same thing the ignorant talking heads said after BYU beat Oregon State and Oregon. Just a pure sign of a real idiot.

You call us delusional who said BSU was the better team. Your argument is that TCU's offense simply did not show up and that BSU won because of sheer luck. I saw a different game than you and it was not a game of delusion and luck. I saw BSU win the line of scrimmage. I saw BSU call and execute flawlessly a fake punt on its own 27 yard line. The only long drives of any length that I saw were those of BSU. I saw the MWC's best QB look scared (and scarred?) I saw one of the best defensive players in the nation get handled by a freshman lineman, with help from backs and TEs. I saw a defense do to TCU what it did to Oregon, the Pac-10's champion....Thomas Jefferson said someting to the effect that "I'm a great believer in luck and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." BSU earned that luck last night and whatever you call it, you can't take away the fact that they were the better team when it counted. Look I am not a BSU fan. Anyone who knows me knows that. But I am assuredly not delusional in swallowing my pride and admitting that BSU beat the MWC's best.

I am usually not one to play the credentials game, but since you asked if I have ever tried to catch a shielded ball, I have. I played starting wide receiver in high school in Texas (on a 5A team that lost the state championship) and starting tight-end on my high school team in Ohio (on possibly the worst football team to put cleats to grass) and I made the roster at a Div-I school as a receiver before injury ended my career. As a receiver, if the ball hits my body, it needs to be caught, and in the two minute drill if I cannot reel it in, I deflect the ball down to kill the play and line it up again. No matter how the quarterback gets the ball to me, if it gets to me the ball is my responsibility.

The defender did not touch the ball before it hit the receiver, and the receiver's vision was not obstructed. A jump ball is a routine throw for receivers to the outside, and, again, it is their job to go up and either get the ball or knock it down--that's what they get free tuition for. The quarterback's job is not to land the ball lightly in the receiver's hands--his job is to get the ball to where the receiver can get it. If you don't agree, we will have to agree to disagree.

I was a pretty good WR myself and could catch anything that I touched, but if the db shielded the ball by swatting at it, it was a crapshoot wether I caught it or not. That is what happened plain and simple. The db most definitly broke up the play. He recovered and got enough obstruction that the ball went past his hands and through the wr's hands without touching the wr's hands and then off the pads. If there had been less air the db doesn't make the play on the ball, the pass is caught, and TCU keeps driving. The hang time of the pass was long enough for the db to recover and make the play. Hence I claim it was a bad throw.

Yeah, I was still pretty pissed that a clearly inferior WAC team managed to beat a superior MWC team who beat BYU. What can I say? I agree, it was a great play on BSU's part, and TCU REALLY dropped the ball on that one. But one play does not a top-5 team make; Oregon has been overrated most of the season, and BSU's schedule, other than the Fiesta bowl and Oregon, was comprised of glorified high school teams. Some of them would be pwn3d by Timpview or Bingham. TCU is BSU's ONLY legit win, and I must blame TCU for failure. I'm just pissed that we let them do what they did to us at home and then they blow it and get beat by the drunk donkeys!!!! :gross:
