GREAT speech by fellow Cougar and LDS Senator Jeff Flake today. Hit the nail on the head about everything that's wrong with the republicans today.
The "fellow cougar and LDS senator" is one of my least favorite angles ever. Haven't listened to Flake's speech yet, but I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt because he goes to church.
LDS people seem very willing to accept the views of any politician/celebrity who attends church with them.
Just like Americans seem so ready to listen and pander to whatever garbage hollywood celebs have to say.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to offend by mentioning his BYU fandom or religion. I like what he said. I still believe in the values he stated in the speech, which used to be Republican values. The values of Trump's GOP are replacing those with anger, xenophobia and isolationism. You can have that garbage if you want.

No offense taken at all.BlueK wrote:

Conservative values are good - they are constitutional and law abiding.
The problem with Flake is, he tried to paint himself a victim. A victim of what? As I posted, his constituents supported him at 18%. That is not Trump's fault. That is Flake not keeping promises to his constituents back home - and they have rejected him.
Isn't it interesting that the liberal left loved Flake's speech? When the liberal MSM gushed over Flake's speech, that my good man is a huge red flag.BlueK wrote:

That is hogwash. I agree there is anger at 8 years of lawless presidential behavior, hostile and divisive rhetoric from the White House, lying to the American people about a secure border, stopping and eliminating ISIS (didn't happen in 3 years of Obama feigning to want to stop ISIS. Trump get is done in 7 months.), Obama's fake efforts to eliminate radical Islamic threats (which Obama will not call radical Islamic threats), and using the IRS to crush political opposition (1st time done in 200+ years of American history).
Isolationism? I have never hear Trump or any member of his administration admonish isolationism. To recognize that Obama put foreign government interests before American interests, and that of foreign industries, that is not isolationism. Trump recognizes that foreign governments have exploit us and strip our middle class of critical funds and redistribute those American monies around the globe. What's isolationist about wanting to put American tax payers 1st?
Xenophobia? That's liberal MSM propaganda. Hogwash. Recognizing that the world has evil people that are intent on entering the USA and harming innocent American citizens is honest and wise. No other country allows the legal immigration we do, and ignores the illegal that we have and pretends it doesn't exist. Nothing wrong with protecting our sovereign borders and American citizens safety. That use to be a GOP value.
I've actually held a man in my arms that was shot in the chest multiple times by 3 illegals who had just robbed a small mom and pop grocery store. He begged me to save his life as he bled to death internally. I tried to plug the holes and keep him alive. I was not successful. He left a wife and 3 children behind. There is nothing wrong with keeping illegal criminals out of our country. American citizens safety is a priority. To paint it as racist, or xenophobic, is horribly dishonest.

They are who are protecting Obamacare, they are bending to the left at every turn, look at the tax bill. It includes an increase in taxes on the rich "to pay for the cuts". What a joke! They should be decreasing the Fed Gov but they won't. I doubt Cruz would have been as effective as Trump. He was hated by all the RINOs and so he probably would have caved in to them after he got elected. Also, they can't bully Trump so he is going to do what he will do which so far has benefited Americans more than ever before.
