I think it has to do with the fact that our last 4 opponents were really bad, and it hurt our overall SOS. Also, some teams behind us had good wins, which we did not have in that timeframe. But winning the next 2 will remedy that fast.

All I know is that it is time that BYU break the curse streak they have going under Rose. 0-7 in Vegas, and finished every season with consecutive losses. Start a new streak tonight!

Well we win 2 games and drop 2 seeds to a 6.

Now we lose and we go up a spot to 5...No wonder all those crappy teams ahead of us are so high! We've finally got this thing figured out

I guess Marylands loss vs GT was deemed worse than our loss at UNLV.

Furthermore, it puts as back in the San Jose slot of the West bracket. Wow.

Good loss Cougars! :P

Also, I like the current path - Siena that winner of Wisconsin/Rhode Island. Some of the weaker 1/2 seeds too. Duke/WV.

I like the current path even though it is a 5 seed. I do think Sienna would be a weaker 12 seed, no upset happening there. The 5/12 upset matchup's will come from SDSU(12)over Butler(5), USU (12) over Vandy(5), and WF(12) over Temple(5). Hey, one can dream can't they?

I doubt we end up with a 5 seed. And I doubt we are lucky enough to land some team like Siena, who comes from a no-name conference. I hope I'm proven wrong. We need more ranked teams to lose today

As of Joe's 1pm bracket, he has us at a 6 seed, playing Washington in New Orleans and the East regional. With a 2nd round matchup against Baylor. I'd take that in a HEARTBEAT. We'd beat Washington, especially if it's thousands of miles away from either school (hello, BYU had more fans in the stadium for the Tulane game than Tulane did!). Baylor has a couple decent bigs, but I'd still give our team a dang good shot at that game. Their best scorers are their guards, so I think we could suck them into an off-to-the-races style game and do very well.

As for location, obviously San Jose would be best. If it weren't there, I wouldn't complain about New Orleans too much, just because there isn't really anybody in the 9-12 seed range within 8 hours of the Big Easy.

Hence, guaranteed we'll ACTUALLY be a 7 seed, and either play OK State in Oklahoma City or UConn in Rhode Island.

2 not extremely related comments:

Does Duke's Kyle Singler FRIGHTENINGLY remind of anybody of the albino assassin played by Paul Bettany in DaVinci Code?

If the committee DID screw us over with an 8 seed and Duke gets the 1 seed, PLEASE oh PLEASE let us play them. We COULD BEAT THEM!!! They looked like CRAP against Georgia Tech.
