I don't agree with our seed of course, but I like the matchup because

1. Florida isn't that good. Period.

Florida is VERY overseeded, so I like the fact that we are really facing a 12/13 seed team (if seeded at all. I'm SHOCKED they got in.)

2. No Monsters Inside.

Their biggest dude is 6'10", and neither of them are beasts inside (even for their height - like a Keena Young or something). Obviously, we all have been fearing the bigs - and that will not be an issue.

3. No Superstar Presence.

Our defense may struggle at times against a single big time star player, but this Florida team is very balanced. Their highest scorer only puts up 13.6 a game. See we have some very good defenders, and a few who are only okay, but Florida doesn't have a few superstar guys who are going to attack our weakpoints. I think our good overall team defense is well suited for the spread out attack. Additionally, there aren't any match-up problems for us (like a guy too fast for our bigs to cover, but too big for our smalls to cover.)

4. Young/Inexperienced

They don't have a single senior on the team. Why is this ESPECIALLY significant? They haven't been to the Dance in two years, so their guys don't have ANY idea what it is like to play in the Dance.

agreed a 7 seed is garbage. What do we have to do, to get a higher seed. O well down go the gators bring it on.

Um.... not play like garbage in the MWC tourney. That, for starters.

Yep - and Tyler Has not getting injured!!! (No control over that!!)

By the way - any news on if T. Haws will be able to suit up & play???

Will it be a game time decision???

I am going to say this in every post til gametime...

Do not get cocky about Florida! We have lost 7 straight in the big dance, which is embarrassing. Let's be happy with 1 win and go on from there. That's all anyone should be concerned with.

Agreed. I doubt florida is going to be a gimme.

No matter where your seeded if you want to make some noise your going to have to beat quality teams. Hopefully we show up hunger and with some urgencey, something I havent seen since we played the Orangemen.

This is alright, we SHOULD take care of Florida fairly easily, we match up well with them. After that, well, you never know, anything is possible. There are two worries I have though: Kansas State is VERY good, I don't know who said there are overrated... they are not, they are athletic, a couple of NBA players on their roster, big guy in the middle and in Oklahoma City they'll practicually have a home game. If we can get past them, we should go to the Final Four. I am not getting excited about beating them...

7th sead is what I expected, given the +2 rule. BYU could go undefeated, be ranked #1 all season, be the defending NCAA champs and still would get no better than a 3 seed come tournament time. Bank on it.

As for Florida, it's a scary match up for two reasons: Billy Donovan

The guy can coach and give him 4 days to break down a team, he'll come up with a game plan suitable for his talent. At least the game isn't being played within 60 miles of the FLorida campus. Thank heaven for small favors.

Beating Florida: it depends on who the refs are and where they are from. And how many shots Tav takes-if he limits it to 20 attempts, we have a great shot.

Which is why this sport will always be 3rd on my sports list.

Great analysis. JT has had multiple 20 shot games this year. And by multiple I mean his season high is 18 in the first game of the year. He by far leads our team in shot attempts. What's that? Oh yeah, he a 150 behind Jimmer. And what were you saying about shooting percentage? You mean he's made 46% of his shots in the last seven outings? Yeah, he's just KILLING our team.

Rose just said Tyler is good to go.

It is on TBS

"Tyler's actually doing better today. His eye is kinda opened up a bit more and I think his vision is getting better. Hopefully we can just get that swelling down and we can get him back out there and start playing for us.

This team's responded really well to the chanllenges which we've had, and hopefully we get everybody healthy, get everybody in practice and prepare and go play our best.

I went to the game in LV and had not been to a real game for a long time. To watch Jimmer and EMery and those guys was something special. I know that they played their guts out. I think that we had to make some changes to the starting line up that got us a little off in the first half. I anticipate the team doing well as they play really hard. I enjoyed it very much until the very end of the UNLV game. Honestly, if I ever hear Re BELLS RE BELLS again it will be much tooooo soon.

Oh and by the way, Jimmer is friends with 2 of the players on Florida and has watched them all year so that might be helpful. Again from TBS.

TBH, take away Free throws, and Jimmer, is a avg player most days.

Drawing the foul is a talent in itself. Which is why we admittedly suffer when we aren't getting the calls.

What? So a player like Karl Malone was just average as well since he got a similar percentage of his points from free throws? Good players know how to get fouled. Why do you think he gets all those free throws, from not breaking down the defense? Has any team this year really been able to shut him down? That does not spell average to me. I hope your comment was TIC, cause it really makes no sense.

Am I the only one worried about this game?

Florida is still coached by Billy Donovan. The same coach that coached the Gators to back-to-back NCAA tourney wins. The last time the Gators where in the NCAA tourney (two years ago), they won it. This coach knows how to prep his team for the tourney. A big, big advantage. Rose is still working on getting his team ready for big games.

Don't get me wrong, I think BYU can pull it off, I'm just not ready to write this one off as a "gimmie," especially given our track record in the tourney.

I think you're right. This game will be a tough - back & forth "nail biter." Florida cannot be taken lightly.

That doesn't sound like "good to go" to me. That sounds like "hopeful to practice a little bit sometime soon". Big difference.
