Congrats Cougs! Wow, what a game. There were a couple of times where I turned to my wife and said, "We're not going to pull this off," only to have Loyd literally turn the game around. Loyd was definitely the game changer. Getting 5 fouls on Boyton and the injury on Parson (?) was huge in the 2nd overtime. Nice work Cougs!

Now, I hope they come out hungry tomorrow and satisfied with just one win. I agree, with the monkey off their back they can play much more loose now, but I hope not flat.

Don't say you thought at time we might lose, in this threat you get torched for that... tommy boy almost got killed!!! no worries though, we were all worried at some point!!!

I am watching the game now. I really couldn[t believe that at the 11 min mark in the 2d half, that BYU would go on to score another 49 points.

I am in awe of Loyd. I haven't seen a guard at BYU that quick with those spin moves since I can remember. Where did Rose find this kid and we've got him for another 2 years!!!

What do they say about going deep in the tourney? It's all about stellar guard play?!!! With Fredette and Loyd, we stand a very good chance in the next game.

Now BYU is up comfortably in the 2d OT. I can't wait for Saturday, regardless of opponent.

Why in the world can't we recruit some big guys who can do everything down low? Watching UNM (who apparently does miss open 3's when they're not playing us) vs. Montana. If we had that big white dude on our team (from UM) we would be undefeated. Same goes for the big guy on UNI, Siena, and St. Mary's...see the trend? Why can't we get someone who can control the boards, re-direct some shots, and score with authority down low like every other team I'm watching today? I'm not asking for an All-American...none of the guys I'm referring to are of that caliber. It just seems that we have below-average and very soft big guys year after year. How do we change this?

Dave Rose needs to get a coach on staff who can coach the bigs better, that's how. It has been a weakness since he got here. And yes, I know we had Plaisted, but really he topped out fast and did not improve, seemed to be better as a soph than as a junior. sound familiar (hint:Miles). Rose coaches guards and wings amazingly well. But the bigs have not been so great.

Exactly. Rose views Center as a position to run the ball through and that's about it. Even in yesterday's game Miles/Davies would set a screen and then just wander a few feet after that rather then cutting straight to the basket. Miles/Davies could have had a half dozen easy layups if they just cut to the basket after the screen (even the announcers noticed), but they never did. They just hovered in the same area, Miles more so than Davies. Clearly cutting to the basket wasn't something they practice. It should be automatic at that level. Our guards, of course, don't even recognize the opportunity either, so I can't imagine it's something they work on. Rose doesn't even see it either. This is my biggest beef with Rose. It doesn't take an athletic Center or Power Forward, it just takes game planning. Down low Give and Gos, Back Doors and Screens should be part of any teams' arsenal.
