Brett Richins, owner and operator of Deep Shades of Blue, must be immature and full of himself. Does Riley Nelson ever write articles about Brett Richins?

Silly cougarblue troll.

I love how people think that they have more insight and knowledge about the qb battle than the coaches themselves...

I'm sorry but Richins seriously irritated me in that article. This quote is ludicrous:

Richins wrote:
Another thing to muse upon: What if Nelson were to win and hold the starting job? Does anyone think Jake Heaps will sit the pine in Provo cooling his heels for the next two years waiting for his chance as a junior? Ain’t gonna happen.]

Frankly, if Heaps is the type of quitter that would transfer if he didn't win the starting job then we don't need him, and I don't want him starting this or any year. I don't think he is personally but that is not the type of young man I want leading the team if he is. The bottom line for a bunch of you Heaps worshippers is that you think we will lose him if he doesn't start just like Ben Olson. Well, look what type of carreer that the quitter Ben Olson had.....

Yeah I quit reading your comments right there "Nelson worshipper".

Sheesh. I guess a QB battle brings out the worst in some.

If this is what he thinks then he didn't think this through very well. If, and that is a big if, Nelson starts this year doesn't mean he will start for two years, Heaps could very well take over the starting spot in Nelson's senior year. If Nelson does start the next two years than Heaps wouldn't be a junior because he would more than likely red shirt one of those years which would make him a red shirt sophomore.

Mars, if you will go back and read 1 or even 2 of my posts you will find that I am absolutely not worshipping Nelson in any way shape or form. I have stated more then once that I am for whomever the coaches pick. My point with all of my posts is to prepare you Heaps worshippers for a scenario where Nelson would start and that the QB battle is far from over. You, on the other hand, would Marry Heaps if he asked. (not that there is anything wrong with that sort of thing  )

Guys, Heaps isn't transferring! Good crap. Read one article by "some dude" and you go all crazy. His family MOVED here, IIRC. Get a hold of yourself, Jake will contest this year, and if he doesn't make it, he doesn't make it. If Riley is struggling to keep him off the field this year as a true freshman, think what'll happen next year when he has a year under his belt of either redshirting, or backing up, or possibly starting. Not gonna happen that he doesn't see the field. Get a hold of yourselves, and do some research sometime, instead of believing everything you read. My word!

I agree. I don't think he will transfer either. That is what irritated me about the insinuation in his article. Plus, if you pick a starter just becuase you are afraid that he will transfer if he doesn't win the job, then you have picked the wrong guy. Like I said above, I don't think that Heaps is that type of guy and if I were Heaps or a member of his family, I would be insulted by the insinuation.

Yeah, Heaps isn't going anywhere. And I disagree with Richins' conclusion. It's WAY to early to make a decision on the starting QB. It's too bad we're not an NFL team and could start Heaps, knowing we'd have him for the next 15 years, instead of just four.

I fully believe that Heaps will be the next great QB at BYU, it would be awesome if he had the chance to learn for a blue-shirt year, and come out and have 4 amazing years, rather than hit a big learning curve right at the start, but either way it happens, I think we'll be talking about him for years to come.

I have some more news. Contrary to our cougar-centric board, Jake is probably not reading or following any of this--if he is mature enough to stick around and if he discerning enough to read a defense. Or any of the other qb's for that matter.

Doubt if he reads Richie Richins either.

The pen only used to mightier than the sword. Its crap these days. And I'm afraid our postings are less than that, albeit entertaining. :-)
