I definitely was not a Payne fan for a long while, but after watching lots of college football over the past two years and seeing lots of lousy kicking, I can appreciate a kicker who's pretty consistent and pretty good, just lacks a little strength.

Payne will be fine; and yes he had issues fall camp last year but have improved a great deal since.

I'm not at all worried about the kicking game this season. Stephenson is a great punter, and Payne is better than average.

I'm much more concerned with how we stop the run and run the ball. Kicking won't lose us any games this season..

If we keep the ball inbounds on kickoffs...

Payne gets more crap than he deserves. I understand that he usually does crappy in practice, but in terms of how he performs in actual games, he's been pretty consistent.

All of our problems will be solved next year with the return of, or should I say "no returns" ;) Sorenson

"Since Payne began kicking PATs as a redshirt freshman in 2007, he has missed a total of six PATs in games, making 156 of 162.

Payne's 96.3% career PAT rate is second best all-time at BYU (min. 100 attempts). Owen Pochman holds the record at 97.1% (135 of 139).

Payne has missed exactly two PATs each season for three seasons.

Payne needs 7 made PATs to pass Kurt Gunther's BYU career record of 162. Payne needs 18 attempts to pass Gunther's career record of 179."

While Payne has not been a long FG threat, he's been extremely reliable. We never quite appreciate what we have till it's gone.

I don't understand how this can be such a problem year after year at a school like BYU. BYU's Men's Soccer team is fantastic and their competitive season just finished so now they're just getting ready for for some post season exhibition games. You're telling me we can't drop by soccer practice one day, have an informal tryout, and see if we can't find some second-string goalkeeper that can kick? With two weeks of practice any decent soccer player HAS to be able to kick a @#($&*#! PAT.

Are the men soccer players eligible? They play in a professional development league.
