Pitt lost that game. Utah always gets lucky that way. Utah didn't win that, pitt lost it. chalk it up as one more lucky game. good thing they don't get lucky against us like that.

They got lucky two years ago when Max had the worst game of his career. The Max that played tonight would have torched that Utah team.

A few of Gregg Wrubell's thoughts on the game:

Big East Football! It's.... underwhelming.

Working on my game day "spotting boards" for BYU-UW while absent-mindedly watching Utah-Pitt. Pitt players also absent-mindedly watching.

Panthers can't get out of their own way.

Utah defense playing well enough to win; offense/spec teams turning over ball enough to lose.

A little too clever. Ute timeout wipes out made Pitt FG, then TO wipes out missed FG. Then a made FG, overtime. Someone will win, I think.

Weird game; a game Utah had no business losing, yet could very well have lost. Pitt played as if the end zone were radioactive.

When Utah blew that last punt; I just told myself that Pitt was going to waste the opportunity... sure enough

Anytime the ball is on the ground you drop on it, EXCEPT FOR A BLOCKED KICK, scoop that damn thing and take it in to the endzone you dumb Pitt special teams!!

I've said all summer that Cincy and West Virginia will both beat Pitt this year and finish ahead of them in the Medium East. Notre Dame may get them too.

I've been critiquing Pitt so far on rivals tonight... so here's a summary:

1) Their defense doesn't appear to be NEAR what it's all hyped up to be

2) They have a quick RB, but keep trying to run him up the middle. Still isn't working.

3) Offense is seriously lacking... it's gonna be a long season for them if they can't establish an offense

I blame the defensive coordinator for the bad d.

HE NEVER BLITZES!!!

Every time they blitzed :utard: something good happened... not sure why they didn't do it more. It's not like they have a secondary.

Utah kicked BYU's ass by 24 and they were lucky? C'mon.

And Max and BYU have zero to do with Utah beating Pitt.

Pitt was #3 in 1984 when BYU beat them in Pittsburgh to start a very magical season. Pitt unravelled after that and had a very poor season and BYU went on to win a National Championship. Many of you were not born in 1984 but have heard the stories and impact of that season.

Pitt can't be any more overrated in 2010 than they were in 1984. Let's give Utah their props. They were lucky to have this game in SLC, but won a big game in the Rice Paddie - something their fans have come to expect. These kind of games sell tickets.

A lot of teams will be gunning for Utah and BYU this year. The rivalry game could be huge for BYU and maybe for Utah if we have a big season. BYU should be firing on all cylinders in November.

Both sides played a VERY sloppy game. Props to Utah on the win, but watching this game should make Utards very nervous about this season, not excited.

Well I'm encouraged.

Every question mark-Cullen, WRs, LBs, DBs passed the test with the exception of one blown coverage.

Utah was sloppy for sure but I think they'll tighten that up and I'm not doubting their personnel after what I saw.

Utah has a very good team this year in my opinion.

I didn't see the game (surprise, surprise, but I'm not upgrading my satellite package to watch a Ewe game) but I wouldn't bash any team for sloppy play the first game of the season. I'm quite sure we will see similar boneheaded mistakes by our team this Saturday with all of the youth on the team and just being early in the season. The teams we see early in the season are going to be far different than the ones we see late in the season. I fully expect another knock-down, drag-out fight at the end of the year. I am hoping we can steal a win and send the Ewe to the Pac-12 in style!
