Some of Washington's scoring bursts last year:

23 against LSU

23 against UCLA

21 against Oregon State

19 against Oregon

17 against ASU

16 against USC

14 against Stanford

You guys couldn't even run it up on your poor D in practice this Fall.

BYU averaged about 35 points per game last year. We hung 44 against that same Oregon State team.

I don't think Washington will slow down our O-Line. You can't win a road game if you can't stop the run.

BYU was #20 in run D last year, and Locker can't pass.

Advantage: Cougars

Don't mean to jump in the middle of this smack talk but I was wondering if you made it down to Provo to watch the game tomorrow?

How I know Locker's passing has improved: It couldn't possibly have gotten any worse.

All I know is that purplereign and mars better both have the balls to come back and eat their crow tomorrow if they're wrong. Both seem 100% of their pick, but we know one of them is wrong...

I don't get the cockiness coming from many U-dub fans. Sure, we have a couple new faces, but this is a consistent top-25 program, not to mention question marks in U-dubs front seven, including losing their leading tackler. It's nice to support your team and be a good fan, but the word delusional comes to mind when reading comments from a lot of these U-dub homers (not trying to single out Reign, as he has kind of kept his U-dub hubris in check).

Certain BYU fans have been just as bad. Tomorrow is obviously going to give us a much clearer idea where this team is at. But with all the questions going around right now, it's equally foolish to claim BYU has this one in the bag based on what past teams have done. It's just the same day as the game (technically), and I'm extremely nervous. Don't want a let-down so I'm trying to stay objective.

BYU fans have much more reason to be optimistic, Bronco has proven that his system works and that he can plug players in and still win a majority of games. Washington returns most of a defense that was TERRIBLE last year, except their one good player. And, as much as I love Sark, one five-win season is hardly justification to be predicting an "easy win" against a consistent top-25 team. Sometimes when fans try to be "objective," it just means that they're pessimists.

Every time someone picks BYU to lose it doesn't mean we are being disrespected. Drop the persecution complex please.

These guys have a job to do, it's to predict games. The truth is that they aren't any better at it than any of us, they are just guessing. They aren't on TV for their amazing ability to predict who wins, they are on there to talk.

UW ended last season ripping on it's last couple of opponents. My contacts inside IW indicate Sark has Locker throwing much better passes. Polk will be another threat. BYU will handle Polk. I hope BYU can handle Locker.

The entire UW team was much more focused and committed in the off season due to emerging leaders on the team.

UW is not taking BYU lightly.

I would be pessimistic that an FSU type wax job is coming but Vegas thinks BYU still has a chance. Vegas does it's homework.

Go Cougs

UW will not score 20 in this game, mark it down. BYU will also be lucky to hit 20. I predict 17-10 for BYU

PurpleReign, I do not expect you to know this because I suspect you do not watch much BYU football. Bronco Mendenhall is actually a really good defensive coach. He knows how to scheme to his teams strengths, or lack thereof, as was the case when BYU went to UW 2 years ago. BYU is much moe talented on D now than then, especially in the secondary, which is generally BYU's weakness. I expect BYU to really play run first, and make Locker throw to beat BYU tonight to see if he can. If he can, we will switch up the scheme. But BYU does a great job containing QB's that are really talented runners that struggle to throw it. See Wyoming last year, AFA every year and many others. Guys that give BYU trouble are those that are both a run and pass threat because they are really good at both, and those guys trouble EVERY team. Think Ponder at FSU, Dalton at TCU. I know Locker is a freak athlete, but this game will hinge on his ability to make the throws at the key moments. Hugh Millen concurs, by the way. And it really is that simple. Since he has been wildly inconsistent in the past, count on BYU game planning to make Locker's arm beat them, not the run. I know Sark has improved Locker's passing, but the kid is still more Michael Vick type talent that Brett Favre type talent.

I don't think they would be lucky at all. At home against UW's D it would be surprising if we scored less than 30.

Hugh Millen who does radio for UW says that UW's biggest fear would be lack on pressure on the QB because the UW D-line has been so poor. They were bad last year, and lost an NFL player from that group. They might have a very good secondary, but if you give BYU too much time to throw we will pick you apart. With our O-line being our strength, I expect UW to have to blitz to pressure us.

BYU's biggest fear should be that Locker throws it well. He is really streaky that way, but if he gets hot, will make it really tough for us to contain them. So lets hope he we get him off balance early.

Ok. I hope you're right about UW not getting 20 pts. As for BYU - yeah - the whole QB situation is the great unknown. Man!! Nervous time!! This is killing me.

A bronco mendenhall led cougar team has never scored more then 20 in an opener against a D1 opponent. If this one, who has a QB that has never started a game for BYU, Tight ends that have never started a game for anyone, running backs who have never started a game for BYU, I would be absolutely SHOCKED if BYU scored 30.
