Certain BYU fans have been just as bad. Tomorrow is obviously going to give us a much clearer idea where this team is at. It's just the same day as the game (technically), and I'm extremely nervous. Don't want a let-down so I'm trying to stay objective.


BYU fans have much more reason to be optimistic, Bronco has proven that his system works and that he can plug players in and still win a majority of games. Washington returns most of a defense that was TERRIBLE last year, except their one good player. And, as much as I love Sark, one five-win season is hardly justification to be predicting an "easy win" against a consistent top-25 team. Sometimes when fans try to be "objective," it just means that they're pessimists.


I'm usually pretty optimistic going into a BYU game, thank you.

Don't get me wrong, I expect this offense to mature into a very good offense. I just don't expect it in game 1.

1) Mark May is an idiot that has always and will always be down on BYU. I pay about as much attention to him as I do Airwolf.

2) Locker can throw the ball. The big question is whether it come down anywhere near an eligible receiver.

3) Bronco may never have scored more than 20 in a season home opener against D1A competition. But Bronco always strives to improve on past performance, so you better have that particular stat in pencil with an eraser handy.

4) Bronco's also never given up more than 20 in any opener against any competition, anywhere.

5a) If Washington's d-line is unable to get a good push on our o-line, we score all we'll need to. It won't even matter who's quarterback. Riley Nelson, Jake Heaps, the head cheerleader, or even Uncle Rico himself - all they'll have to do is hand the ball off for 4 yards a play, all the way down the field.

5b) If Washington's d-line is unable to get pressure on the QB by themselves, we score at will. They'll either give the QB all the time in the world to hit our very talented receivers, or bring extra backers and leave the middle of the field open. Their secondary may be good, but without pressure, you could have Deion Sanders and Charles Woodson in their prime out there, and guys wood still be getting open somewhere.

NO SURPRISE here. Just wait, there's more. If UW wins today, look for them to be officially annointed the next media darling for the story-less, mediocre pac-10. Or maybe that has already happened. :-)

Media hype can get you a lot of places - the favorites' column, the White House, etc. But it can't get you squat on the field. Besides hype, what has changed in the last few days?

Not a word from May from what I saw in the wrap up show. Although he dissed TCU's win and rank and the MWC. He asid if they went undefeated they should absolutely NOT play in the champ game. MAy is a chump, AQ pimp, with zero integrity. It took Holtz to push back on May. Anyway, that guy sucketh.

Scoring-wise, the game went a lot like I thought it would.Sloppiness in the first game of the year always leads to less points.



My prediction of a 23-20 BYU win was good. Italics' prediction, 23-17, was even better. Great prediction!
