Riley Nelson v. AFA in the second half:
6 completions on 32 attempts (including runs) for 41 passing yards, 0 TDs. 1.2 passing yards per play. 18% passes completed per play.
Jake Heaps v. AFA:
2 completions in 6 attempts for 15 passing yards, 0 TDs. 2.5 passing yards per play, DOUBLE that of Riley Nelson! 33.3% passes completed per play... 15% BETTER than Riley Nelson!
JJ DiLuigi: About 8 yards per run under Riley Nelson, about 14 yards per run under Jake Heaps.
BYU's Offense: Worse under Riley Nelson, better under Jake Heaps.
Team BYU: Better with Jake Heaps.
The BYU Program's Future: Better with Jake Heaps playing more than Riley Nelson.
BYU Recruiting (for those who care): Better the more Heaps plays and the less Nelson plays.

Bronco Mendenhall, Robert Anae, and Brandon Doman have all said[/u] that Riley Nelson ran the ball FAR too much against Air Force. They all said that BYU needs to improve our passing game. 6 pass attempts in 32 touches for 41 passing yards, or 1.28 passing yards per play and an 18% pass completion per play, DOES NOT allow BYU to improve our passing game. All 3 coaches said that the offensivew balance was out-of-whack under Nelson. Nelson does not have the ability to provide BYU a balanced offensive attack. Heaps does.
By default at this point, Heaps is the only real answer left. Anyone not related to Nelson stumping for him from an indefensible position on a message board can see that.
