I am Mike Botkin. I have known OC since he was in 6th grade. Played AAU basketball with him and HS ball and had a part in him transferring to Harmony from Osceola.
I wasnt going to post on here, but when I seen this....

That made me upset.
Let me tell you guys the truth about Ty Anderson.
You want to blame OC for his action?
Which, some, sure, is OCs fault, some have happened for a while, BUT....Big A(what we called Ty Anderson) is 1 of the biggest factors in OCs "attitude"
About his attitude....when we won games...he didnt care if he had 1 catch, or 20 catches. He was as happy as can be. But, when we lost, you better stay away from him, or else he blow up and let everybody know that it is unacceptable.
back to Ty....
Ty and his brother Justin(Lil A)....had 0 discipline in our program. Players were allowed to miss "mandatory" weights, summer conditioning, kids came late to practice(like 45 minutes late) and nothing was said to them, kids cussed out coaches NUMEROUS times during games and practices, and nothing was done. No discipline. Kids ran the program. I dont think I ever even heard either of them raise their voices. Kids would sit there and cuss out assistants and they would just sit there with a dumb glare....it was almost laughable at how they won games because they just outtalented everybody else.
That is the place where OC came from.
Then...when recruiting got heavy...Lil A and Big A used him as their stepping stone...used him sooo bad. They both know what type of kid he is, and what type of place BYU is....but Lil A applied for GA spot 2 years before OC was a senior, and didnt get it, then when OC arrives and he is a 6'3 210 WR that BYU wants...all he does is sit in OCs ear for 2 years about BYU this and BYU that...and promising about taking care of him while he is there...etc.
I want O'Neill to transfer, no doubt about it. But, I support him if he stays. I want him to transfer, because he needs a clean start, it is clear that the coaches do not want him at BYU. I mean, sure, he isnt the easiest player to deal with, BUT...you cannot tell me Luke Ashworth is a better WR then OC? OC is probably the best "ATHLETE" I have ever seen in my life.
Play any position in football, can punt, can kick, can throw the ball 80 yards...can do ridiculous dunks, can shoot, can play hoops, can play soccer, can bomb a baseball, dominated FLORIDA track.
I want him to be used to his full potential, not be treated like he isnt wanted.
I just wanted to clarify Ty Andersons statements. Ty used OC to get into college just like his younger brother Justin did. Then, as soon as they leave, its time to bash OC when something goes wrong when in 2 years of coaching him, they never gave him 1 rule to follow because they were scared their meal ticket would leave.
Mike Botkin
Sorry to give Botkin more attention here, but his post inspired me.
If O'Neil is as good an athlete as you claim he is, then he would have had plenty of D1 offers. Any of which would have had the same affect on boosting Anderson's credibility as a coach. Why would sending a kid specifically to BYU have landed them a promotion? Doesn't make sense.
OC could have gone to any school and Anderson would have reaped the same professional benefits, so I don't buy your used and abused story.
Second, if OC's team was as chalk full of talent as you claim they were, if Anderson were trying to get players into college to boost his own career than it actually would have been in Anderson's best interest to establish well disciplined team.
I know Justin. He's a smart, kind man. Really, really doubt he would make such an error and "use" a person for his own gain. Here's an idea. Maybe Anderson had OC's best interest in mind. Knowing OC and what OC needed, maybe Anderson steered OC to BYU because he knew in the end OC needed BYU as much, if not more, than BYU needed OC.
Drop the chip on the shoulder, Botkin. The world isn't out to "get" your boy OC.
