The offensive play calling was flat out terrible. Jake was good on the inside routes. He had problems with the roll outs. Outside of Hoffman, no one is catching worth anything. Heaps was over 50% for most of the game, with lots of drops.



Am I saying he had a great game? No, but he still looked better than Nelson.

First off Nelson didn't play in this game so any comparison is ridiculous. Secondly, there weren't many drops in this game, the incompletions were much more bad throws, but there were a few just bad drops. Jake is becoming very good at dumping down to the RB in the middle of the field, he's actually learned how to take some of the zip off the ball. His problem is throwing to the outsides and especially in the redzone.



The defense did an okay job, especially in the 2nd half. The offense had several chances to score and didn't capitalize on them, the defense can't do that much more than they did.

I think I have b een pushed over the edge. Anae seriously screwed up. Kariya to the short side of the field on 4th down!!!! I am not ready to saay fire him but wow. Our offensivce play calling in key situations was at the least verey questionable.



Hey, how about trying the fade one more time anae since it was working so well.



I feel good about or offense and defense. By the end of the year our offense is going to be rollong. Coaches really screwed up with the two qb system

The defense could have not given up almost 5 yards a rush.

We know, WE KNOW! I think it's time to move on from the 2qb issue. I'm sure we'll never see it again under Mendenhall.

I hate the fade. It seems like it rarely works. It is the equivalent to a 3 point shot taken 10 feet beyond the arc - low probability.

UNR is not a good defensive team and BYU only scored 13 points at home. What was supposed to be strengths, our Oline and receiving corp, have shown they are in rebuild mode just like the defense. There were some bright spots as have been noted by others, but seriously, scoring only 13 points against a weak defense at home is embarrassing.



I am worried about next weeks game on the road. I am worried about SDSU at home and CSU on the road, which just beat a decent Idaho team. They could finish with a losing season very easily. I am perhaps one of the more optimistic fans on this board and I am very worried about this team.



Now, that being said, more time together, more practice together, playing real games should help this team get better as the season continues and to get them ready for next year. I absolutely hate having to say wait till next year only 4 games into the season, however.

Well, I'll take that shot with Jimmer a few times a game. But I don't want Christ Miles attempting it. All depends on your personnel.

True. So when Heaps starts playing like Jimmer we'll reintroduce the fade.

BYU picked up a number of 3rd and 4 running it. Normally, I would criticize that call harshly - but with a QB that is having accuracy issues - tougher call. USU ~ other than homefield advantage - is starting to look more beatable.



Can BYU play 4 full qtrs on the road. If we can - we beat USU.

PS did your hearts stop beating when JJ went down. We R just 1 play of having huge problems if Heaps or JJ go down - likewise Pendleton and Rich - to an extent Logan but we have more depth there. I hope we stay healthy so our improvement continues. Lark is not ready. Quezada is not JJ yet. Pendleton, Rich, and Logan are not just key playmakers they are defensive leaders.

Nope. Juice is a better runner than JJ and he is faster too. JJ makes the pretty moves but he has to because he is a step slow like Curtis Brown was.

I'll agree with that. But he's not too far away. That throw to JJ was right on the money. Couldn't have thrown it much better.
