There were some real positives to take from this game. Let's not get too impatient with our young team. Love the cougs

Heaps is starting to look like a BYU QB between the 20s, but he's terrible in the redzone. That will come, but man I wish we had redshirted him this year, he would have been so much more ready next year.

Well what we just saw was a freshman QB who is good at moving the ball up and down the field but bad at getting it into the end zone.

We played Nevada to a tie in the second half. We had many missed scoring opportunities.

We will win next week.

At this point I'm feeling a bit like the Utard fans of old - I don't care now if we don't win another game - honestly what difference will it make? - as long as we get things together enough to beat the Utards.

Down with the :utard: .

good thing we started the season with a FCS team

4 weeks in and our biggest offensive output is 23 points. Against a defense that has given up almost 50 points per game against their other opponents.
J

229 passing yards from our freshman qb in his first start with no turnovers, and 1 pass that could have been called a touchdown to di luigi.

I'm with you Kbear. This team is loaded with potential and I feel like today's game can almost be counted as a moral victory.

Not if the offense doesn't figure out how to get the ball into the end zone. Utah state has played BYU pretty tough the last couple of years and Logan is going to be Rockin since they have a legit shot at winning this year. BYU's offense is going to have to grow up quick or this year could get ugly really quick. Also, that defense is going to have to figure out a way to get stops when they matter. When you are down 3 scores, the stops don't matter as much as they do in the first quarter when an offense is going for it on 4th down on the 30 yard line.

Ugghh! Have we sunk so low that we have moral victories against WAC teams?

Unfortunately I probably agree with you.

Until this offense learns how to put up more then 10 points per game, I won't be calling for a blowout of anyone.

I know, that sucks. But I'm just fishing for positives. Hopefully we demolish USU.

I think that we caught glimpses of greatness throughout the game, but it will take some time to put it all together.

I hate the idea of having a horrible year with a bad record. We have put together so many great seasons and now we are going to have this blemish to account for.

I'm sorry for those that think the defense did their job on the second half. They gave up a 21 play, 8 plus minute drive. That killed the game more than anything. Sure, they only gave up 3 points, bit they never got the ball back for the offense.

The offensive play calling was flat out terrible. Jake was good on the inside routes. He had problems with the roll outs. Outside of Hoffman, no one is catching worth anything. Heaps was over 50% for most of the game, with lots of drops.

Am I saying he had a great game? No, but he still looked better than Nelson.

I don't disagree with you. I think we have issues on both sides of the ball.

But I think the offense is worse than the defense.

With a better offense this could have been one of those games that we win 35-30 or something like that.

Bronco usually asks the D to hold teams to 20 or 21. 27 for UNR is a decent shwoing for our D. NOt BCS Bowl showing - but a decent game. And whiny fans are calling for Hill's head and saying the defense sucks. Get real.

The offense, as expected was a dissapointment. It amazes me that there are still fans who cannot see why Bronco did ot turn it over to Heaps sooner. HE was gettin ghim ready = and is now forced to go with him before he is quite ready. It isn't just about getting more reps in practice or in games. It is also the time between the games to llok at film and reflect on decisions.

Heaps is coming along. But this team will not turn everything around by next Friday. But maybe we improve on offense, the defense hangs as tough as it did in the 2nd half, USU has less firepower but maybe better defense or at least equal to UNR. UNR is beter than USU and better than BYU.

USU is a road game. That may be the problem. Short week - hopefully BYU gets ready. I believe USU is at SDSU - hopefully road wear lingers on.

Go Cougs

SDSU killing USU - maybe USU is weakening or people are figuring them out better. If they have had injuries - they probably lack depth. Shut out if I heard correctly.
