...what sucked was in their view, the "troll" technically did nothing wrong but those that "owned" the troll technically did...thus I was advised to moderate that and could not moderate troll behavior because it did not "break rules"...That was one of many reasons I asked to be released from my position as moderator there. That and the lack of support from many other "moderators" if I could call them that. Then the site went unchecked for a long period of time until they got "bluechipper" who was only set up for failure.

Bluechipper was a dumb douche. My $0.02

So, with our recent visit by a "CB recruiter" I was wondering...what were you guys doing this time last year? Apparently I was trying to make CB viable and worth visiting by bumping good threads to bury porn and spam...oh, and also getting banned for it.







Dug up this old thread well, because today's incident made me think back...We are definitely doing much better here than there.

It was just last year that this forum has been going strong. Yes, the prediction game was being played here but no one was posting here yet on a regular basis. These two threads kind of show the migration.

I really liked the application they used at CB and took a while to get used to the one here. I started to like it fine over here as I learned how to navigate. I really liked the little news headline box that used to always appear in the upper right corner of my screen. That has moved and changed recently and I wish it was back the way u had it. The dark blue background around the forum index makes it very hard for me to read especially on iPhones. But the porn and trolls on Cougar Blue got way out of hand and they were ineffective stopping it. MARS used to shamelessly troll over there to herd people to Cougar Corner as did a few others. So forgive their guy for trying the same.



CB went dead and there isn't much point posting if Boone is reading and pisting. I don't know if they have revived it - haven't looked in quite awhile.

The OP is/was not a DH staff member like some have supposed. He is a Utah and BYU fan that has posted at CB for a number of years. He did not share IP with any of the DH staff...yes, I still have some of those IP's saved from when I was there.

The news box in the upper right is still there, however, it doesn't show up on mobile devices because it crowds out too much room.

I have also found if you have adblock plus set up on Firefox, the whole right column doesn't show up. Since I know that there are no ads on Cougar Corner (thank you Hawkwing!) disabling adblock plus for this site shows all the content. So if all you are seeing is forum and no news or twitter feed, then that could be a reason.

Very interesting! I have adblock plus with chrome, but I still see the right bar. So if you are missing something be sure to make sure adblock isn't filtering the site. There will never be ads for registered users on this site.

I may not be a high poster, or well known at either place, but Cougar Corner is a great place, made great by the quality and friendliness of the people here.



It's funny that the abbreviation for the other site is CB. I'm sure most here know of CB radios, which truckers and such use. In my experience, it's also filled with trolls and profanity and the like, making the bands horrible to use, and something I would never have my children listen to or participate on. Then there's the amateur radio bands, or HAM. People communicating via HAM radios are much more courteous, and it's genuinely fun to use. I would day that the CB bands are like the CB forum, and the HAM bands are like CC.
