Sorry, but Robert Anae is getting exposed as a play caller. Utah freaking State knows what we are going to do every play. Coach Anderson has outschemed us in this game. And it does not help that our receivers and TE's are the worst unit BYU has had in forever. Heaps is not looking great, not horrible, but seriously, who is getting open? It is pathetic to watch, but BYU has no answers and I blame the offensive scheme. Coach Anae hid behind great talent for 5 years, and now he can't, and this team is bad, unorganized, not close to looking like it can score over 20. Sorry, but the coaching this year is AWFUL. Both sides of the ball. The sit back defense sucks, we play with no passion, no aggression, and we look slow as a result. WE look bad because we are bad, from the top down. We are awful. Simply awful. We will be lucky to get to 5-7 this year.

I am starting to wonder who else we are going to beat. We are making Utah State look like world beaters, and they haven't beat an FBS team yet this year.

So would Hamilton or Chandler (the HS game on after this) have any trouble scoring against BYU? Would we put up points on them?

Heaps is a true freshman who up until the Nevada game only got half the snaps in games and in practices, and he is surrounded by slow, un-athletic wide receivers who can't catch the ball.

What's the rest of the teams excuse?

They have a s*** quarterback throwing the ball to them?

What's he gonna do?

Also throw to receivers that can never get open? Or that drop the ball when it hits them right in the hands?

The problem is a lot bigger than Heaps

That's one way to protect Heaps  (not play him at all)

Tell me it's not true and I'll call you a liar. he has made mistakes ofc, I'm not saying he has played flawlessly. This season is already a failure IMO so looking to the future and getting heaps all the gametime he can get in is the best thing for this team.

if I see Lark come in after the half IMA go buy a bunch of eggs after the game

The offense has gotten worse every single game. I was hoping that our consistency in practice the last 3 weeks would lead to improvement. As of yet we're going the wrong way.

No, we are just facing better opponents. ;)

No kidding. He has to hit a perfect strike every time because his receivers can't get separation and can only catch a perfectly thrown ball, sometimes.

Heaps has thrown 2 bad balls tonight. Pick 1 was all on McKay. He quit on a freaking slant, WTF??!!! Pick 6 was bad, but a scheme issue they were ready for. The overthrow to McKay no great, but the rest not bad, decent decisions and no one gets separation. No heart, no physicality, no guts. This team plays as if the cowardly lion and tin man mated. Wow. This is pathetic.

Anae isn't my favorite coach, but I have given him the benefit of the doubt. I have to agree with you. Anae has been exposed tonight and the defense is an embarrassment for a head coach who prides himself as a defensive guru. This season won't be over fast enough and from here on out it's play the next year's group to they can hit the ground running next fall.

LOLOLOL, are you related to Lark or his boyfriend or something?

Heaps definitely hasn't been helped by the play calling. We need someone who can go across the middle for 15 yards--it just isn't there or never is being called.

Utah St. would bite if he ever did a pump fake. They are jumping all over his short throws.

This has been pathetic. the receivers are NOT helping their QB.

No doubt. They should be throwing the ball to him too. He's the only one that has displayed a little spark out there.

One of Heaps biggest problems in this game is that he has never thrown a pass to a receiver he hasn't been watching from the snap. Everyone knows where he's going as soon as the ball is hiked.

Heaps is doing fine. The receivers are the problem.

He's getting protection, but no one is getting open. And when they do, they drop the ball as often as catch it. probably even more often.

I was actually thinking he should replace someone in the backfield every so often.

Okay, that KO was a good effort to start the half.
