I'm staying on the BYU wins wagon.

Because there is going to be little joy in the game on Saturday. BYU is simply not good enough to compete with TCU.

Man, if you can't enjoy a Saturday of football just because TCU outmatches us then I feel bad for you. I'm not saying that after the game you have to be happy with the result, but to be down on your team before they even play is just ... boring.

You know what happens when you assume?

Just because I predict BYU to lose doesn't mean I won't be pulling for my team. I have yet to meet a fan of any team that finds "joy" when their team loses.

I don't think you have to predict a byu win to be a fan. You can be realistic and logical and still be a big fan. that said i have thrown all logic out for this saturday's game and am predicting a win.

I rarely enjoy losses. Losing isn't and shouldn't be fun. I'm not down on BYU, I'm just not expecting anything other than a blowout loss this weekend. I'm very high on BYU's chances the rest of the way.

There's not much room to defend this prediction, but here's where I'm coming from.

FIRST:

1) TCU is a better team

2) TCU probably game plans better

3) TCU is clearly faster

4) TCU has better athletes

5) BYU is banged up

BUT

1) TCU has bigger opponents both in its PAST (OSU)(to consume off-season prep), and future (AFA, Utah)

2) TCU has whipped BYU like a New Orleans prostitute for the past 2 years; BYU no longer needs as much psychological preparation

3) BYU is getting better. By this week, Heaps and the receivers should have better timing

4) Because of the crap that has gone on for BYU hithertofore, game tape has less value

5) McGregor will be in the stands, and BYU has only lost ONCE (BC '05) with McGregor in the stands

6) TCU is playing AFA next week; AFA always requires extra attention, but now that AFA is actually good, and nearly beat TCU last year, they will get more of TCU's attention

7) Bronco will be game-planning the defense

8) Word on the street is that the coaching staff spent considerable time in the off-season preparing for this game, including the involvement of outside consultations from great football minds

9) Ammon G Carter Stadium belongs to BYU

10) I paid 11% tithing this week

Gentlemen, prepare to celebrate like school girls.

Out.

JL McGregor

Dallas TX

Two ENTIRELY different things. Unless you are equating with winning and beating the spread. Personally, I don't think either is going to happen.

I should have pulled the spread part out. So let me be clear: BYU wins.

Bartender! I'll have what he's having.

For the record, I will be ecstatic to admit my unbelief and eat crow if you are right.

I previously said we would need Moses or Ammon to win. Looks like we have Ammon...So I'm good. We win hands down (pun intended)

Those are all good sound arguments. Funny thing, I feel more optimistic about this game then I did last week about SDSU. Funny what a good defensive performance does for your confidence in a teams ability to win. I still don't think BYU will be able to get a win though. And the dinner I offered you is still on if they do. I will PM you if BYU wins to get an address where I can mail you a check for a dinner.

I do think the fact that BYU has been so bad this year and that TCU has absolutely whooped us the last two years plays into BYU's favor. I don't think TCU is approaching this game with as much intensity as they have. Conversely, I think BYU is finally approaching the game with excitement and intensity and not trepidation and fear that it can ruin a great season.

mcgregor, enjoyed reading your defense, but a word...

Paying 11% tithing will not grant you indulgence in whipping New Orleans prostitutes. The Church just doesn't work that way. ;) (Your casual reference to it was an admission of guilt.)

And now that you live in the DFW area, it's AMON, not Ammon. Bad mcgregor. Oh, and his namesake museum is world class btw. CP sez check it out.

I think reasons 7 and 8 are the best on your list and worth knowing. Reason 5 is pretty good too. Enjoy the game and wave for us fans who can't make it in person.

I'll throw my hat, for what it's worth, into the small, but growing BYU-wins pile. I always cheer and hope BYU wins, no matter the odds.

If BYU comes out strong and hits them hard and keeps their foot on the gas, we've got a chance. We've always got a chance.

And, if the receivers decide to actually catch a pass, JJ manages to hold onto the ball, the o-line succeeds in pushing TCU around, and Chambers finally has that break-out game he's been promising for the last 2.5 years, then anything is possible.

I believe in miracles...

You know, I knew this. I see that dude's name everywhere.

I will be at the game, but I'm using TCU Alumni season tickets, and I had to agree (seriously) that I wouldn't wear BYU apparel.

TCU finally has BYU's whole focus. I really think that the TCU players are going through the motions this week.

I bet they're saying to themselves, "C'mon coach! Have you seen BYU on film? Their OL was awful against FSU, we're going to get pressure with just our front four!

"Did you see all the missed tackles they've had all year? We're going to be dragging those Cougs for five and six extra yards each play!

"Have you seen all the drops by their receivers? We're hardly even going to have to guard them."

While I don't give BYU must chance, I don't think BYU is going to resemble what TCU has seen on film. If we can find a way to make it a close game, that's good for us. It's about time TCU is the one who is pressing in this matchup.

Shouldn't matter since there will probably only be about six other "couples" around you. Most of the other alumni couldn't get time off so they will be busy at McD's bossing around the Ute grads. :D

I'd love lunch. But I want a win more. The speed which tcu plays at is above all of our other opponents. If we can keep it in front of us we have a shot. But the d is too young.

Hope springs eternal.

What would be the perfect scenario is for BYU to receive the opening kick, Falsev returns it to the 40 and head butts the guy trying to tackle him. Then Heaps takes the team down the field and he passes for his first TD. Then the defense comes out and does a three and out on TCU. Now we have their attention, now the're a bit worried, now they're beginning to doubt, no third straight shutout...and, "coach, what do we do?"
