Addition by subtraction. I REALLY can't see it any other way.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a sad, sad day.

OC talks about a crappy offense and he's off the team. But OC Anae is responsible for a crappy offense he gets praised by BM.

Hmm...disparity in my eyes.

OC can be a cancer, but at least he could catch. I think he'll turn this around via senior season and not pull a complete Loyd, remember Chambers said he had dreams about playing for BYU and I don't think it had to do with football long-term.

Meh, all talk and absolutely zero results after 2.5 years. Although if he got kicked for criticizing the offense then I can sort of support that. But still, insubordination never gets anyone anywhere in my experience.

In his defense, he did become the all-time kickoff return leader at TCU, passing Rigell I believe.

I LOL'd when I saw that stat during the game. What an indictment of our KR game...slow, slow, slow. Regardless of what any stats say, James Dye is the best KR we've ever had hands down.

What I would give to have Dye on the team.

I loved chanting "Dye! Dye! Dye!" with every punt return.

My last straw with OC was when he came back from his most recent suspension, said he hadn't learned a thing, talked a bunch of talk about "leading" the team and then the most productive play of his was a pass interference call.

Our receivers were horrible this season, so I'm not really seeing in loss of production from this.

Can I also say that some of the tweets by Jeremiah Jensen and Dick Harmon regarding Chambers' dismissal have been a tad unprofessional?

JJ: "Currently looking for O'Neill Chambers highlights for tonight's story...this is going to take a while."

DH: "Let me think about what the tragic loss of Chambers means to BYU....still thinking...will get back on this one after more in-depth research."

Do you really need to bag on the guy? Those two tweets just struck as crossing a line from criticism or analysis to personal attacks.

All I can say is that I hope he returns for his senior year and contributes. And if not, hope he lands on his feet. He is a young student-athlete--emphasis on student here. As such, I wish him nothing but the best, and hope he stays with BYU, gets a BYU degree, and is able to prosper from it. And the end of the day, he is still just a kid and a student first. I am not down with ripping a kid who is just a student, and draw the line there (Paid coaches is another matter for me).

I really hope OC sticks in Provo, gets his degree, and is better for it.

Amen to that, especially since he basically won the Utah game for us last year with his special teams play. Give the college kid a freaking break. This is a young student we are talking about, not some pro athlete.

So I defended Chambers all this time for THIS!?!?

Let me tell you this: if the guy has any sense in him whatsoever he will stick around, work hard, and come back next season. If he leaves BYU I guarantee the last football game he will have ever played in his life will have been against TCU. No way this guy gets into the NFL, CFL, or any other professional or semi-professional league. BYU is his main/only/last opportunity to shine and impress, he blows this, and he's blown his complete career in football.

What a damn shame. The kid (still) has all the talent in the world. What a waste for things to end like this.

This is a shame. I can't believe the way harmon tweeted that. My opinion of him has changed.

I hate this season.

I would caution you to assume that I havent' chatted with current players...

But you're right, he has been suspended 3 times now for nothing... Bronco is a real kook

Maybe if he took as much care in being a team player as he did being a friend to a little kid, he might still be on the team.

Craigo, nothing personal between you and I. I simply said unless you know firsthand then I'd be cautious. Apparently you know firsthand, more power to you. All I know is what I read here and last time I checked this is his 2nd (perhaps last) suspension per Greg Wrubel, not 3rd as you stated.

And I never said anything about Bronco being a "kook". I support almost everything (literally) that Bronco has done. I was only suggesting it was not too becoming to bag so hard on O'Neill. Frankly I think it's downright rude and uncalled for. His mother frequents this site and posts quite often and as a parent it would hurt me quite a bit to see personal attacks (whether founded or not) being publically spouted about my son.

Way to speak your mind. This is a sad day for a student athlete, but it's not anything he didn't bring on himself. Let's keep things in perspective, everyone else. It is one thing to hit your head against a brick wall, and another to take a few steps back and do it again. Let's not pretend he is something he wasn't.

Sad day, but not for BYU sports.

I wish OC the very best. It's easy as a middle age man to forget some of the things I said and did when I was young. I echo the sentiments of another post hoping that he lands on his feet somewhere.

BTW - Ammoncougar, he's actually been suspended or reprimanded publicly 4 times in his career. (who knows how many times behind the scenes)

He was suspended in camp this year, reprimanded for flipping the bird in a game, suspended for 2 weeks earlier this season and of course now... he was also in the doghouse last year too for uncalled for personal fouls in 2 games. This kid has been kicked off the team by Bronco, so let's not all assume he was a saint.

That's all unfortunate and unacceptable. Honestly, I would never change my thoughts or opinions based on the fact that family members frequent the site. It's insincere and it's dishonest. Sports chat forums are meant for opinion and discussion; this is not elders quorum, and my opinon has been from day 1 that OC is not and has not been a productive player and certainly his play doesn't match his mouth.

I'm not about to sugar-coat how I feel about a me first type of kid who's head had inflated to 50 times his production.

Some people are willing to learn from others, work hard, and let their actions do all the talking. In his case, he thought he knew it all, didnt' work hard, and his actions did none of the talking. Maybe he's going to have to learn the hard way... if he learns at all.

The Heaps, Hartsock, and Ah Ching families frequent this site (whether you know it or not) and I would tell them the same things in person that i say on this site.

1. Jake should have been redshirted but he's still the qb of the future; I've never budged on that.

2. My biggest fear is that Noah will never find that fire and passion for hoops he had prior to his mission and marriage (In fact I've told that directly to his family and I'm good friends with his brother)

3. I've told Atamu that I worry that he wants to be wined and dined by front runner schools, even though everything about BYU fits his style and personality... I love that kid and I've had several 2 hour + long discussions with him, but if he started acting like OC, I'd tell him exactly what I'm saying now.

And should I have a chance to meet any of the Teo clan, I'll tell them that their boys would have been better off with BYU and I hope they're laying off the sauce.

Kona Schwenke, and family.. "you're dead to me"

It's a shame for OC and his family. But this is not a crisis for BYU. BYU will be just fine. This is a major crisis for OC, whether he sees it or not. His life could be defined by his big mouth this year and his inability to be a team player. I hope he overcomes it and grows up, but BYU is not hurt by this loss inthe slightest.

Bronco can not allow one mutinous player to infect the rest of the team.... and that's what this all comes down to. I dont' see other players getting the boot....

Oneill has made many comments to current players about the money he'll be making as a pro and even more from time to time on his facebook page.

Let me say this; if you want to make money as a BYU receiver at the next level, then you need to do nothing more than have the physical talent and follow Austin Collies example. I call Austin Collie "The Blueprint" because he's exactly what you want in a BYU receiver and an NFL player.

OC is no AC; which is a shame, because AC is going to get paid for a very long time... If you get a chance to be around "The Blueprint" then I suggest you learn to act like "The Blueprint" .... never happened.

I've followed OC closely since he stepped foot on campus. I was a big fan of his. There's a photo of him hanging up on the wall in my daughter's room. That being said, man what a disapointment he's been so far, up to this point. And not just 0 catches in BYU's last 4 games (of which he was only suspended 2). Or his slow-moving return style where he never follows his blockers. Or his constant fumbling problems.

He got himself in the news all off-season. Lockergate. Bad grades. Missing practices. Mouthing off to the media. Talking down to his teammates. I understand he and Anae didn't get along well at all, and on this point I would side with him against Anae (Yes, the players don't like RA. No, Anae isn't a good recruiter. And that's aside from his failures as the offensive coordinator). But it takes a lot to get on Bronco's bad side repeatedly.

I think we've seen the last on him in Provo unfortunately. Huge heart, tiny brain. Just stupid, stupid, stupid, some of the things he's done during his time here. I like his fire, but he never proved to be coachable, never proved to be a good teammate. A waste of talent.

I think we'll miss his mother posting on this board more than the team will miss him. At least he's not on drugs or in a gang somewhere, so things could be worse than being a good kid with mediocre football talent and a bad attitude.
