CC has to be the most negative site of all time. We won against a good Utah State team. Not by luck or chance we made the plays down the stretch to win. Teams struggle at the start of the season look around the nation look at how many teams lost, Purdue comes to mind. Does that mean they are horrible teams NO, finding a rhythm is hard. Jimmer is still the man, Hartstock played great and we got the victory. Dont go EMO CC.

Last year was a fun year and it was pretty much excitement all around. You have to understand that there are different, much higher expectations this season. What we are seeing so far is a team that suffers from the same weaknesses year after year. We have zero inside presence, which means the writing is on the wall--no tourney run. Things can certainly change for the better as it is a long season, but to say that everyone should get all excited just because we won is a bit simplistic. We expect this team to dominate a team of USU's caliber.

In years past we would have lost that game down the stretch so that is not making the same mistakes. Harstock is good down low. Davies will continue to improve and Collinsworth did good on the boards. If we can control the glass we will be fine. They will figure out the spacing and how to play with Jimmer. Was it the best win no but they won! I have seen BYU piss away many games down the stretch with turnovers and missed free throws. Butler did pretty well last year without a back to basket scorer last year guard play is king in college basketball.

Its very possible that USU is better this year than last (except not without Bendall). So, yes it was a win over a somewhat quality opponent. and that will matter at end of year, somewhat. It was at home and we were supposed to win.

Davies is not going to get better. He was starting. He is now benched. Even Anderson came in before him. wrong direction.

In past we may have lost that game down the stretch. We did last year after being up on USU--but in a very hostile, maybe 80% more hostile than our Kitty Playground we call MC (c'mon old and lazy and rich people--stand up and cheeer for your Cougars!) But i digress.

We do not have the outside shooting we had last year. Rogers has not even been streaky yet--just black-hole nothing nada, except a few lay-ups (and some improved defense last night).

So, we'll beat the teams we should and struggle against the more deliberate ofenses like USU and NM or the better athletes like SDSU and the Bigger-inside teams like........um.... SDSU?

But, no the sky isnt falling....yet.

Yeah, I got the feeling that we're not going to be as good as we thought we might be. It's still early, but I didn't leave feeling overly positive about the season like I did a few weeks ago.

I kinda got that feeling when I went to the BYU-Hawaii game and we struggled through the first half.

So we're only allowed to critique the team when we lose? :skeptic:

It's a forum. Peoples' primary reason for visiting and contributing to a forum is to discuss various view points. A conversation gets pretty boring real quick if all it consists of is a round of high fives with no dissenting opinions.

Yes, we won. But did you see how horrible we shot? Only reason we won is because we took more shots than they did.

Did you see how after the starting 5 there was a HUGE drop off in production? The bench accounted for only 7 points. Starting 5 accounted for 71 points, which is a good sign for the starting 5, but more production of the bench needs to take place. It also means if the trend continues, we're going to potentially struggle just not in the post season, but next season too.

He wouldn't help our soft post defenders and poor low-block offense.
