Does anyone ever remember BYU storming the MC court after a win? I don't over the last decade.

Since I won't be there it really doesn't matter to me but when has BYU ever beaten a top 5 school on it's home court? Just because it's SDSU! how condescending!, They earned their rank just as much as we've earned ours. Sure you don't when if SDSU is unranked, but you guys are missing the historical significance of one of the, if not the biggest win in the history of the Marriott Center.

Maybe in future years it will be common place for the Y to invite a top 5 school in and whip their butts but I just don't see that happening. This is history, for Coach Rose, for Jimmer and for Cougarnation! Don't give me this "not for SDSU", or act like you've been there before crap. I've followed BYU sports for a lot of years, Kresimir never got this chance, Danny never got this chance, but now Jimmer does!!! Again this is history, enjoy it! revel in it! capture the moment so you can tell your children about it and your grandchildren!

Anyway that's my opinion, but what do I know, here in Kentucky the blood gets more excited about basketball than in most places!

Go Cougs! Beat SDSU!!!

In defense of not storming the court, I'd like to point to our boy Jimmer. Remember, just last week, when he hit a halfcourt shot vs. the FrUties? Turned around and walked to the locker room. No jumping up and down, no craziness or hysterics, just acted like he knew it would happen and he'd been there before.

Storm the court? No.

OWN the court? Yes.

. . . at the MAC . . .

I guess there are just some things you just can't control.

Do we need to denigrate the Marriott center by referring to it as the Mac? That reminds me of the Thomas & Mack which is referred to as the Mack at times and I don't what BYU basketball associated with the Mack, except as it pertains to whipping the Rebs on their beloved Home floor.

How many fans were at the MC last night? It looked loud and crowded on the tv.

Either way, this game is going to get a lot of hype and publicity. I mean, this year's team even has me watching basketball again!

it was reported that there was some 16K at the game last night, which is noted as being pretty good for an 8 pm Tuesday night game. I agree it's not bad, but I think 16K for the #9 ranked team for the curtain call for TCU at the MC and it being Jackson Emery night is just a little above average. Heck, they had 14K for that game against Fresno Pacific on New Years Day.

One man's crap is another man's gold. :)

BTW it is just SDSU. Maybe if it were on their court. :P

No storming the court. Storming the court gives the impression we've done something great and that indeed SDSU is the better team.

Instead, we beat SDSU and quickly exit the building as if we just handed Wyoming their 11th loss.

Only time we should storm the court this season is when we win the Las Vegas Invitational. Take that MWC.

Everyone needs to stop saying "Act like you've been there before" Anyone storming the court has never been there before and isn't going there again. They are 18-25 year old college kids who have never played a meaningful basketball game in their life, who are just looking to have a good time with their friends. Going to basketball games is about having fun, storming the court would probably be pretty damn fun, and it could create a lot of new fans going to the game who have a special experience at the game. I hate all the old boring fans at BYU sporting events, get off your ass and have some fun, if not, at least don't harsh everyone elses buzz. I've been told to sit down or be quiet by one to many 87 year old grandparents. It's a basketball game, stay home if you want a quiet evening with your prehistoric wife.

It's probably a good thing I don't live close to Provo...I'd be there with my 30+ year old Y-MEN hat on and hand megaphone screaming "BoBo Skaditen Doten" at the top of my lungs and what ever else came to mind to try to rev-up some excitement, while the rest of you sit there stoic mumbling "I'm appalled!" looking to exit reverently and quietly with your arms folded. To each his own, we are all fans in our own way, I guess I just get more excited about a good basketball game.

Or by failing to capitalize "Center". JK.

Back when they built it, it was the Mariott Activities Center and called the Big Mac until Mariott asked to not have the hamburger name - then it was called the MAC. Now that you bring this up, I vaguely recall that it may have been officially name changed. Is it just Mariott Center now? I meant no disrespect.

Thank you for the command. From now on I will tell my son to celebrate every basket he makes every hit he gets (btw he has led every team and league in hitting since day one and has never had to hit off a tee), and every TD he throws as if it were the greatest thing in the world and deserves such attention. Maybe I should teach him how to really talk trash too. That would follow suit. And lastly I'll teach him how to cheat without getting caught since its all about sportmanship and gamesmanship. After all we don't want him acting like its no big deal.

But I would have to say that playing in HS playoffs and in championship games is a "big deal" to high school teens. At least from my experiences. Heck, even playing for the Stake (and Oahu church) bball championship was a pretty big deal back in the day. But I guess those are nothing when compared to a college basketball season game against a league foe that you will face at least one more time. Yep lets whoop it up as if it were the last game in Jimmer's career and he just hit a three from across court to win the game in OT as time expired. Maybe we should get the kids to rush the podium at devotionals too. After all, hearing a GA for the first time in college has got to be a pretty exciting life experience and should deserve the same recognition. Oh wait they do that already don't they. But maybe instead of an orderly line they should all rush up at the same time for suvenirs maybe a piece of the chair he sat in, or a piece of the podium, his glass of water or even his tie. After all nothing these kids have done spiritually in life before college can compare.

BTW, I've had a lot of fun at games and gotten on TV a few times as "blue man" without ever having to "storm" the field. And alas, no, I have never run naked across the beautiful green tundra of a sporting event. :gross:

I haven't read much in this thread, but I don't think you ever storm the court unless you're a serious underdog. I have zero doubt that BYU will be favored by many non-partials in this game.

imuakahuku - it sounds like you are inferring that we win a huge battle of top ten teams all the time, like daily. That is not true. In fact I don't think it has ever happened, soooooo ya if your son does something really exciting that hes never been able to do in his whole entire life before, make sure you are around to harsh it, make sure he doesn't smile, or laugh, or get excited. We wouldn't want him to lack class after all.

Well, I don't mind the fist pump, hand clap, etc but I sure hope he doesn't jump around like a damn fool as if he had just discovered the cure for cancer or did something so extraordinary because nobody has ever scored a TD or hit a HR before he finally showed up and did this miraculous feat. When his team wins the championship I will expect him to rush the field or court.

You want to run out onto the court because we beat SDSU go ahead. I don't care about the ranking. It is SDSU at home. We are not some big underdog and they are not world beaters coming off a national championship season.
