Getting hte love he needs right now too. This will make it way easier for him to get around town, around the campus. Still be tough, but he needed this, BYU needed it, and chances are much better he weathers this and is back to play for the Y. Hope he does the same in Vegas. Would be an emotional lift.

I expected nothing less from BYU fans. We all know someone who's messed up at his age and helped work with them to make their way back. Davies' coach and teammates are no different. I expect Davies to return after whatever penalty BYU imposes and Rose will be with him every step of the way to welcome him back.

True words...In the end, we are ALL prodigal sons (and daughters) needing to be gathered in and rallied around. I bet one day the shoe will be on the other foot and brother Brandon will find a chance to bring someone else who has erred back and say "I'll walk with you..."

I hope that is true. I have deep empathy for Brandon & the road he is travelling. I know his teammates & Coacch Rose will rally around him. I hope the rest of the folks in his life rally & support him in the tough months ahead. If handled correctly - Brandon will come out of this stronger & a better man - because of the personal growth & depth he will add to his character.

Twice the crowd chanted "we love Davies". then when the net was being cut down he got probably the loudest applause of the group. Is WAS SO GOOD TO SEE. I really felt for him watching him sit on the bench.

I am so glad they spanked wyoming. that went a long way to erase some of the bad that was this week.

what an amazing game and atmosphere.

The students chanted "we love Brandon" or "we love Davies" way more than once, and every time, Brandon looked down with a cute little smile on his face. He really got into the game, and stood up to cheer a few times. Then when he cut down the net, the crowd just erupted. It was amazing to see, and I may or may not have choked up a little

The REAL* fans still love him and have no reason to be mad at him. Everyone makes mistakes.

*I say real, because I was walking by Cody Hoffman on campus Thursday, and everyone kept glaring and whispering things like, "I can't believe he'd show his face..." and so on.

Obviously they thought he was Brandon, which is just pathetic. If you couldn't even pick him out in a crowd, you have no business trashing him.

What a great experience for the fans too... I'm very jealous that you got to be a part, and as always, no one can doubt you as a fan. You're one of the good ones Bench.

It's only been a week, so this gesture is timely and perfect. I'm glad for the fans, for the team and for Brandon. It was a special day and he deserved to be a part of it.

The story about Cody Hoffman - being mistaken for Brandon Davies & getting the "hard looks & whispers" is appalling!!! It's just not how us - BYU fans - should conduct ourselves. Even though I believe the actual number of students & fans that are negative or hostile are small it still stings to the core & is wrong headed.

Cody ought to write a letter to the DU and talk about this. I think it'll go a long way of shutting up those types of buffoons.

The message that the Y just sent to the rest of the world is that while we don't condone the sin, and the consequences of justice may appear harsh, we also exhibit mercy and we love the sinner. If there was anything that caused me to get choked up, it was watching Brandon cut down a portion of the net and hear loud applause and his name shouted out by the fans. That gesture by the fans probably meant the world to him and shows the world that we love him and don't single him out because of a tragic mistake. Here's to hoping that he continues his journey back on the right path and is allowed to be with the team even though he can't participate in practice or the games. He is seeing that through his courage, contrite spirit and godly sorrow that love and forgiveness are also an integral part of the repentance process

Was glad when I heard Davies was on the bench. Glad they let him be with the team and glad he got that kind of reaction.

Cody Hoffman isn't 6'9" Gotta love (TIC) the not so quiet whispers. Here, I'll whisper something just loud enough for people to hear, but not loud enough that it's obvious it's me. That'll show that rule breaker!

Can you tell these BYU athletes apart?

I had to go to last year's roster for BD's picture since he was no longer listed as being a part of this year's team.

Serious? :skeptic: I hope he doesn't check the website. Come Brandon, come sit on the bench with the team, cut down the nets with us, we love you, you're still part of the team. Meanwhile he's erased from the team page on the site. Gotta be kidding me...

I believe it was helpful for BD to return to the support of fans, players and all present. However, I believe equally important, the team generated energy from his presence. They understand how painfully difficult this has been for BD, and I think him being present and on the bench gave them a positive boost and focus. I think it was a great idea and I'm glad BD had the courage to do so. Although not playing in the game, he was part of it in that sense. Good for him, good for Coach Rose, and good for the University. I think he now knows that he's not alone nor an outcast. He's one of us ....... Good luck BD on your journey back!

I was there tonight too, and both the game and the celebration were exciting. When I saw him moving up the ladder with scissors in hand, my only thought was,

"Why is Cody Hoffmann helping to cut down the net?"

Just kidding--it was a very touching moment, what with the cheers and the "Davies!Davies!Davies! ringing from the rafters.

So looking forward will we see Davies on the bench in Vegas? Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that Davies has been suspended, not dismissed from the team. So because of this would he be able to travel with the team?

Or was today just a one time deal since it was the final home game and a conference championship ceremony?

I can understand the reasons why he would not be able to travel with the team but in my opinion it would be a huge emotional boost for the team if he could.

Different crowd down there. Different risks. Brutal experience if a UNLV matchup or if Ute, Cowboy, Rebel, Aztec fans hang around. I support Brandon being there if he wants to be there - but Cougar faithful better fill the stands so that support drowns out the noise.

+1 x 10!! Seriously - Folks ought to call & protest Brandon's picture being removed. I'm going to call the Athletic Dept. on Monday & inquire. I think that's wrong - though I understand why it was done. Probably the same Einstein's that put out the "suspended for HC violation" group think crowd. At least they are consistent!!!! Brilliant.

It's amazing to me that they took Brandon's picture off the byucougars .com site so quickly. He is not even a part of this years' roster on that site, but they have Justin Sorenson's info wrong for 2 years. "Academic All-MWC ... kicked a season-long 331-yard field goal against Wyoming"
