The guy was set. It would have been a charge, had the guy established good position. Because he was two feet from where Jimmer was driving, he had to lean two feet to the left. His feet were set, but he stuck his knee into Jimmer to create the contact. It was a bad foul. Compounded by Emery's T and Florida getting the ball and making a bucket. It was a six-point swing (no 2 FTs from Jimmer, 2 FTs from Florida and a FG from Florida).

Of course, if Florida had hit their FTs early, we're not even in that game and we lose by 20.

In the press conference after the game Emery said the only thing he told the ref was that he didn't agree with the call. I didn't see the exchange myself, so I'm not sure how Emery communicated the disagreement. The technical was brutal, for sure, but I feel like it was just a lot of little mistakes that added up. Plus the refs were horrible. MWC?

What a season, though. I loved the magic of it all!

Hard to pin it on 1 missed free throw when the kid had 15 boards and was a key reason why we were even close at all. Had Jimmer hit more shots, the FT is a non-issue. Plus, it he hits the FT, can not say what Florida does after that. It changed the way the end of he game was played and how Florida used the clock entirely. Florida could play for OT and be conservative. If down, they couldn't

BYU played well enough to win it. Just did not shoot it well enough to win. The rest was there.

I never "pinned" the loss on Collinsworth. All I did was point out the obvious that if he had hit that foul shot, BYU gets the 2 stops they got when the game was tied, BYU is playin saturday. Collinsworth was by no means responsible for the loss. Dude is playing Davies' position on defense and getting WAY more rebounds then Davies did.

We certainly got lucky with all of Florida's missed free-throws. I think they shot 50% from the line.

The refs weren't that great. There was the bad offensive charge call, the technical, and even though the call went our way IMO Collinsworth wasn't fouled over the back. Course, earlier in the game you had Florida blatantly pushing off on Emery.

Not going to blame the loss on the refs, though, we had plenty of opportunities and we didn't take care of the ball down the stretch.

BTW, how sick was Collinsworth's rebounding? 15 boards! When was the last time we had a single player grab 15 boards in a game. And he's only 6'6". If he can get a jump shot going and keep his hops after his mission we'll have ourselves a nice forward.

but the first shot we missed when collinsworth missed that open layup i turned to my father in law and said to him that shot will cost us the game.

Thanks for jinxing it for us.

Sorry, the loss was obviously on me.

Probably no point in even bringing this up but just for discussion sake, why did rose not put anderson in a little more to smack florida's guys around and send them to the line more?

also, i wish he would have kept emery in. when you go three for three from three, you keep him in, especially when everyone else was cold. i guess easily said in hindsight.

If he had left him in and he picked up his 3rd foul 10 minutes before half time people would be questioning coach Rose for having left him in.

I am taking blame for this one. The Cougars have never lost a game when I wear my BYU sweat pants. I should have washed them a day earlier.

In game adjustments and post play have always been an area of improvement for Rose.

I don't really like his philosophy of letting his guys "play through it." There were several times, especially late in the game when a time out and some talking to, like "Stop shooting 40 footers Jimmer," would have done the team some good.

He also needs to do a better job of recognizing which players are hot and which are not and adapting accordingly. Emery was hot and he got yanked, but that decision could go either way as we definitely needed Emery in the 2nd half. Emery just didn't get the ball in the 2nd half.

Rogers was hot and he got yanked (realize he had 4 fouls), but "saving" a player that you really have no intention of using later in the game (Rogers never made it out onto the court again) doesn't make any sense to me. Magnusson was doing better than Abouo and Anderson was disrupting things down low more than Noah was. Neither made it out on the court again.

Our starters were gassed. No production was lost with our bench in the game. You could actually argue we were more productive because we fought back from a 10 point deficit with Magnusson, Anderson and Rogers in the game. Our bench came to play and rather than recognize that and adapt, Rose played the starters the entire 2nd half and when OT rolled around there was literally nothing left in the tank.
