[GAME RECAP] FINAL: BYU 27, Arizona State 20

BYU defeated Arizona State 27-20 on Saturday night at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Cougars capitalized on second-half adjustments and a late defensive stand to secure the Big 12 home victory.

The BYU offense finished with 385 total yards, relying on a balanced attack that wore down the Sun Devils front seven. The decisive score came in the fourth quarter on a short touchdown run following a crucial third-down conversion. The BYU defense sealed the win with a fourth-down stop in the final minute, halting Arizona State's potential game-tying drive.

With the victory, BYU improves its standing in the conference race as the season enters November. The Cougars hit the road next week for a conference matchup against Utah.

Another year older, another ten years off my life expectancy. Up by seven in the fourth quarter and what do we do? Drop everybody into a ten yard cushion on third-and-long and let them march right down the field. Classic BYU.

We got the W, and I'll take it, but my blood pressure needs a bye week. Can we ever just win one comfortably from start to finish?

Totally agree on that soft zone call on third-and-long. It drives me crazy every time.

Looking at the box score though, the efficiency numbers paint a pretty good picture. We finished at 6.1 yards per play compared to their 4.8, and we won the turnover battle plus two. That usually gets you the win in the Big 12, even if it gets a bit stressful down the stretch.
