New commit for the 2011 class, offered and accepted at BYU's Junior Day:

TE NR Colby Jorgensen ** (2) 6-7/215/4.68

(Timpview HS) Provo, UT

Also offered by: Utah State

"Had 18 receptions for 300 yards and four touchdowns as a 2009 junior at Provo (Utah) Timpview."

"A ruptured spleen kept him from making more of a contribution."

That makes 10-11 commits in a class scheduled to be 12-15 players, with 5+ RMs returning and 9 scholarship offers still out there to Harvey Langi and others.

Jorgensen at TE makes more sense, but the DNews had him as a Wide Receiver in high school. He needs to bulk up to play TE, though.

first half of the year he rotated in at wr. was moved to te later in the year, and did a great job. it gave speed in the interior, and a mismatch with lb's trying to cover him with all the height. he has good hands outside of one major drop at the end of the pg game. i like the offer.

Anyone know anything about Dylan Collie??? Younger brother of Zac and Austin Collie?

Is he more like Zac or Austin? Meaning... Austin was frickin' awesome and Zac was just productive, but not like Austin.

Dylan is only about 5'9" right now, but the kid can run and def wants to come to BYU. Zac had an NFL tryout after BYU so anything between Zac and Austin is still worth a scholarship.

Hard to expect him to be as productive as tne best receiver in 40+ years of BYU football. That's a lot to put o any kid.

A 2012 quarterback prospect (he's a big deal):

QB NR Jonathan Jerozal (0) 5-11.5/175/4.85

(Canyon HS) Canyon Country, CA

"BYU and several other schools have shown early interest in a prospect that started for his high school varsity team at the age of only 14 years old. Last month at the Berkeley Elite 11 West Regional, Jonathan Jerozal was named one of the top five 2012 quarterback prospects and one of the more athletic quarterbacks in attendance by ESPN Rise writer Michael White."

"In 2009 was a 14 year old sophomore starting varsity QB for the Canyon Cowboys. In 11 games went 165 for 284, 58% completion, 2,124 yards, 12 td’s and averaged 193 passing yards per game. Led the Cowboys back to the playoffs for the first time in 3 years. Named to All Foothill League Team as 2nd team QB. Right on! We can always use runners. I'm sure Austin is teaching him a few things in the off season.

A kid for next year's class -2011- that BYU is looking at:

TE NR Jarett Finau (0) 6-3/225

(Juanita HS) Kirkland, WA

Offered by: Arizona

He has been offered a scholarship by Arizona, but judging by his Scout.com photo, that's not the school he's the most interested in. Check out the link above!

Also offered by Utah State and Washington State now.

As expected, Kasen Williams cut BYU from his list today: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/976890.html

And as talked about in a thread below, Bryce McKenzie had his offer yanked by BYU after he refused to commit this week.

"The Cougars have received a commitment from Timpview High tight end Colby Jorgensen... Jorgensen is a 6-foot-7, 215-pound tight end and the younger brother of Austen Jorgensen, a returned missionary in the BYU program who is expected to play linebacker this fall. The Jorgensen brothers are first cousins to Spencer Hadley, another BYU linebacker who is currently on an LDS Church mission. By the way, Hadley has a younger brother, Matt Hadley, who was the Washington 1A Player of the Year after a strong sophomore season in that state. He is already on BYU's radar."

2011 kid BYU may want to walk on:

DT NR Seni Fauonuku ** (2) 6-0/285

(Bingham HS) South Jordan, UT

Offered by: Washington State

It has been said before, but I think it needs to be said again--Bingham better have a defense as dominant as the Ravens were in 2002 with all the D1 talent they have there right now. They should beat near every team like 42-7.

He is red-shirting his junior year at JC in hopes that he can play 2 years at BYU.

How do you redshirt a junior year in JC? They are 2 year schools? I hope BYU gets this guy. Would be huge get for us. This is the type of athlete our secondary needs.

basically, he'd be taking a year off from football rather than coming to the Y for the fall and not being a starter. his juco would allow him a scholarship so he could attend school etc.

coaches have the liberty to let kids go to school on scholarship, in spite of not playing or having eligibility to do so. Jeremiah Hartsock got a year and a half free from umkc after his eligibility was used up because they burnt his redshirt midway through and told him that they'd give him that year back after he was done. He had no responsibilities but the school picked up the tab. for his post senior year of classes.

This is great news, because Joe will likely be a mid year transfer and able to pick up after Andrew Rich and Bradley leave, giving us depth, in spite of losing logan, bradley and rich.

Great read on the BYU Nike Camp that occurred yesterday. Curious to learn what offers BYU might have given as a result of it.

http://rivals100.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1095070

Ryker Matthews was O-line MVP. Colby Jorgensen was receivers MVP (WR and TE's).

Adam Pulsipher was LB MVP. He is a BYU fan, but has no offer yet. Bryan McKenize was RB MVP. And per the article, Harvey Langi did not take part, but was on campus for a unofficial visit that day.

BYU needsto lock up Langi, Matthews and 1 other top kid to add some pop to teh 2011 class.
