I'm a little slow getting to learn our 2011 recruiting class, and from the looks of things. Others here know a bit out them.

Can anyone rank our current recruits in order, for the most needed/impressive recruits AND who we hope to land?

Our future LB core is going to be absolutely AMAZING!

He was a 2star before the Nike camp at BYU this week. So his stock just went up due to his performance there. Wonder who else will see their ratings increase due to camp performances. Ryker Matthews, no doubt. I suspect this kid accepts really soon. Hope Matthews and Langi do as well.

Langi better get on the ball, soon, or Bronco WON'T hold a scholarship late for him! Looks like the coaching staff didn't appreciate his comments about Utah closing the gap with BYU for him now that they're switching conferences... :bug:

PROVO — The BYU football program received another commitment over the weekend.

Adam Pulsipher, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker from Temecula Valley (Calif.) High School, and MVP of the recently completed Nike Camp in Provo, has pledged to become a Cougar, according to totalbluesports.com.

Though Pulsipher, who is the nephew of former Utah kicker Daniel Pulsipher, has committed to sign with the Cougars next February, his scholarship won't be available until January 2012. He plans on serving a mission before playing for BYU.

Prior to committing to the Cougars, Pulsipher had been planning visits to Oregon State, UCLA, Washington and USC. He has since canceled those visits.

BYU now has 11 players who have verbally committed as part of its class of 2011.

I like how we can use the "limited scholarships left" offer to get kids that could go on missions before they start school , to drop other Pac-10 schools and commit right away. Who knows maybe we'llend up signing 25 players ;)

I think we all realize that some of the other players we've offered are going to get left out in the cold.

Th article says that Pulsipher is now 6'3" 230. (scout has him at 200) the truth is probably somewhere in between

Not trying to start anything here, but I heard from an insider at AF high school that Utah is recruiting Ryker Matthews harder and better than BYU. Coach Whit is more involved in the recruiting than Bronco--without violating any NCAA rules-- nd that last year Bronco didn't even know who the kid was and Bronco went to AF. Basically, the former AF coach took Bronco to task over it as well. And that many coaches at AF are Ute fans, so that isn't helping matters, either. The guy who told me is a BYU fan and really wants to see Ryker at BYU and that he is leaning on him big time to get him to BYU since he can with his access and lack of official ties to BYU. I know Ryker is #2 on the current BYU wish list behind Langi, so let's hope he commits soon.

One last thing--he told me Ryker is really strong for a 17 year old. At 6'7" weighs maybe 300 with room to improve and grow, but can already bench 225 over 23 reps. He is already college ready strength wise and will only get better.

Really hope BYU can land him. He is gonna be a 4* really soon.

Not sure what the BYU coaches are doing, but recently Ryker was seen hanging out with Jake Heaps (bowling etc. if I remember correctly), I think we have a good shot but the major issue is that Ryker isnt' LDS and doesn't have that same desire that a kid like Jordan Black (he was baptised right before he committed) did to attend BYU.

I think Ryker is more worried about fitting in at BYU, which is understandable. Once he spends enough time on campus and with the players, I think he'll realize that he can fit in just fine. He's got John Tait types of measurables, and it would be a big blow to lose him.

In spite of growing up in Kansas City, AF has special meaning to me, My mom was strawberry days queen there, I was born there, spent vacations every year there, my grandparents became millionaires several times over selling land they owned near the temple, and of course Bronco went to school there. I love to see AF kids do well at the Y.

My source did tell me that Ryker REALLY does want to play with Heaps though. Said he loved that guy and wants to play with him. So once again, Heaps is the ace in the hole for BYU with a recruit. Seriously, this kid is the golden child of BYU right now for his recruiting abilities and he has not seen the field yet.

By the way, Matthews is LDS, but is leaning towards not serving a mission, per reports, so that is his hesitation for BYU, not that he is not LDS. Another reason why he and Heaps probably get along--both can relate to not seeing themselves serving.

Really? His mother is. She's pushing him HARD to go to BYU, but he is pushing back towards Utah.

I can't completely remember the conversation I had with someone in AF last summer, however my understanding was that he was not LDS and that his mother is (step-parent convert thing? dunno). Regardless, my understanding is that his biggest issue was about fitting in at BYU. With Heaps there to befriend him, maybe that'll put him over the top to be his left tackle for their careers. Apparently, they've been seen hanging out some this year.

I could see that. I believe his parents are divorced and his father isn't very positive towards the Mormons, but I really am not sure about all that.

No offense to Corbin, but this is likely a scholarship due to his dad being an employee of BYU and not based on major D1 potential. The kid is a good athlete yet doesn't come close to the speed and size of his brother; and he wouldn't have been pursued by any other top 50 D1 programs. (same for Famika Anae). Coaches have all sorts of options on how to give out scholarships (full, half, sometimes they'll find them an academic, or in this case a family sort of thing)

This is not to say that Corbin can't find ways to contribute, just that this wont' count against the limited number of scholarships that BYU has left.

Coach Kaufusi and his family deserve this and like I said Corbin can find ways in the future to contribute, but dont' expect this to count against our allotment, now or in the future.

I believe that the children of BYU employees can attend school for free, so it would not necessarily have to be a football full scholarship, just a partial one. So he could attend for free, but get room and board under the offer, which then frees up BYU to offer the scholastic partial to another kid. I know you can split schollies, so perhaps this is the option here.

But at 6'5, 210, we is big and can add weight. Not sure about his quickness or strength. Looks like a 2011. Will be a senior next year.

Offered on the day the NCAA announces a limit to early scholarship offers. Coincidence?

Remember the kid wearing the BYU sweatshirt in his photo? BYU offered him this week. He just committed... to Washington. http://washington.scout.com/2/980168.html

His reasons:

1- Washington is very close to home, so his mom and dad can attend every one of his games.

2- Sarkisian went to BYU, and will let him go on a mission. (EDITed)

Something tells me Finau's mission plans will work out just as well as those who committed to Sark's mentor, Carroll.
