Here is more on the kid, including a photo. 4.0 student as well. Just camped at Cal. He will be a tough get, unless we have an in somewhere.

I saw Matt Hadley has committed. Is this new, or am I just that far behind in recruiting news?

Considering it just got reported today, and none of the recruiting sites have any details or ratings on the kid, I'd say you were ahead on this one.

I have not heard of him yet.

Just saw it for the first time today (before I saw you posted this):

http://byu.scout.com/a.z?s=338&p=2&c=983647&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2fbyu.scout.com%2f2%2f983647.html

"Coaches received a commit from Matt Hadley [class of 2012] after the last week of summer camp concluded. Hadley is the younger brother of Spencer Hadley, who played linebacker one year at BYU in 2008 before leaving for a mission. For both brothers, playing for BYU has been a lifelong ambition that they’ll both now be able to realize."

S NR Matt Hadley (0) 5-11/190

(Connell HS) Connell, WA

http://byu.scout.com/a.z?s=338&p=8&c=1&nid=5068924

"2009 State 1A Player of the Year as a sophomore. Accounted for 32 touchdowns."

His brother was a pretty good freshman LB. Their dad was our mission president in Tri-cities, WA. Should be a good pickup.

So he is recruited as a Safety then, not as a RB. Most info I had on him listed his RB stats. Good to know.

I have no idea where the coaches will choose to play him. He was listed on Scout as a "DB/WR", and is projected by them as a "S" at the next level.

I had also heard that BYU had got a commitment from a JC RB yesterday, but I haven't seen any evidence of that anywhere. Probably just some confusion with Hadley.

BYU is recruiting, get this... Ty Detmer's half-brother, a QB, for the 2011 class. He has not yet been offered.

QB Stevie Dorman 6-4/215/4.8

(Somerset HS) Somerset, TX

http://rivals.yahoo.com/florida/football/recruiting/player-Stevie-Dorman-93861

http://florida.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1102430

"Stevie Dorman... happens to be coached by grandfather Sonny Detmer. Dorman's mom is the mother of Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Ty Detmer...

Dorman... passed for 5,334 yards and 52 TDs the last two years."

Also being recruited by: Baylor, Cal, Florida State, Michigan, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCLA

Trinity Euless is the school that Binghm played in Cowboys Stadium last year and lost to. They also took state in Texas last year, so they are a great program. Plus, they have a huge LDS base in that area for some reason. so I like our chances with kids from that program. If I recall correctly, Tayo Fabaluje, Ross Apo and Teu Kautai would all have gone there had he not transferred to a smaller, private school. So that program could be the next Kahuku for us and bring some great players.

MaxPreps has him listed as 6'6" 230 lbs. Anyone have any speed info on the kid? If he fills out, perhaps he could play D End as well. Love that height.

Well there's not a better tight end school in the country, your friend made a very good decision.

Like I said, Trinity(Euless) could be the next pipeline school for us. All those LDS kids in that area. Let's hope we can get them to commit.
