Thanks again Bib. In reading the stats, Davis made 16 but got a double double with 11 rebounds. Sharp got 4 offensive rebounds. The whipping boy Zylstra, got 8 points and 8 rebounds. I hope I got all that right. Rose made some comment about Winder holding their guard down. Didn't Santa Clara have a 5 game win streak comming into this game? This team has potential to make the tournament.

I appreciated your comment too Beauso.

Same old story -- bad first half, good second half. It gets us the win vs teams like these, but it does us nothing vs good opponents.

Bad first half?? Maybe our defense but that's it

Yep, so the team didn't do half of their job for the first half, I'd say that's pretty bad (not to mention making only two three-pointers).

In the first half, Santa Clara hit almost 60% from the 3 point line. Some of the 3s were well guarded. In the second half, Santa Clara took the same number of threes and hit about 15%. BYU played well in both halves. Santa Clara wasn't as hot from 3 for the second half.

This! And, the track meet that was the whole game took out their legs which effected their shots. D not get in a track meet with BYU in the Marriott Center. Other coaches figured that out. SC coach did not. He was riding a win streak and alot confidence.

AND BYU shot almost 60% for the game, at home. We would've beat Zags last night if we shot that well.

Theoretically, each of the top 65 RPI teams should make it into the tourney. BYU now 37th, should be a shoe in unless it drops significantly between now and selection time. Not that many lower ranked teams can win conf. tourney championships. All 6 of BYU's losses have come to top 65 teams. The lowest is Fla. St. at RPI 61.

Crazy that we are still projected to dance. The problem with our team is that I don't think we're dangerous. We don't shoot the 3 well enough to surprise anyone. Our rebounding has gotten a little bit better, but against bigger teams like Gonzaga we just can't control the boards and thus get walloped. If somehow we are able to rebound at a much higher level then we might have a chance to beat an average tourney team. We'll see. It's not going to be a pretty seed and I just hope the boys get some more tourney experience because next year it is on!

We have to start Austin for rebounding/size.

I've wanted Austin at the 5 and Davis at the 4 all year, but it won't happen unfortunately.

Both are WAY too foul prone, and with no viable options behind them (Harward looks meh and Kaufusi looks like a football player trying to play basketball), that would seriously hurt to get one or both in foul trouble and on the bench.

Carlino has certainly become more consistent in WCC play. How this team pkays on the toad is still an issue and vs goodcteams is as well. They have the opportunity ahead to rise up and address bith of thosec issues.

Fun game to watch tonight.

I always wanted to try to "pkay on the toad". I can imagine it would probably be an issue with me too! ;) (Now you know why don't post very often from my phone.) :P

Overall, I think this year's team is entertaining and talented. They have streaks of really good play. There have been a couple of games where I wondered where BYU went, and how they got replaced by a bunch of zombies (case in point: Iowa State). However, each time they've had that kind of bad game, they've found a way to come back and win the next. I hope they continue to improve and are really ready to go come tournament time.

Anyone still want to argue that this is a tourney team?

This is a tourney quality team.

You can't only play one half of basketball and expect to win the games you need to to get into the tourney. I think we have the talent on this team, but we are greatly lacking in consistency.

Except for Tyler Haws.

I think we do have some talent but not enough or Rose isn't getting enough out of what we have. You can't expect to win when you have to give a lot of minutes to guys like Cusick and Zylstra. I'm sorry but they are not D1 worthy. Part of this can be blamed on Rose for not giving guys like Winder, Delgado, and Ambrosino more of a chance to prove themselves earlier in the season. Rose puts too much faith into players with experience at times. I mean it took Rose until NCAA tourny to start Jimmer over Murdock

No, it's not.

Haws is great, but even his FT's have been lacking lately. Davies is soft and doesn't have the presence in the middle on offense we need from him, and the other bigs are a step down from him. Carlino is either great or awful, sometimes in the same game. The rest of the team is okay at best. We have one guy we can count on.

This is not a quality tournament team. We lack consistency as Schmoe said. We also lack talent.

Ambrosino has been the biggest dissapointment for me. I expected someone who could catch the ball and hit a layup. He is not that guy. Zylstra is 10 times the player that Ambrosino is. They say that you can't teach height, but untill someone teaches Ambrosino how to catch a ball or make a layup he belings on the bench

Most over used phrase on CC: "so and so are not D-1 athletes!" And it has to be said/read in a whiny little voice.
