Actually it only means that I understand the word "hyperbole" You ought to look it up...

Actually you (and Max), at a minimum, judged bunch of folks and applied a stereotype to the rest of them.

You guys disagree, cry about it, hug it out, and knock it off.

Ok. Sorry. I'm done.

Just out of curiosity: what was your name on cougarblue? And don't tell me you didn't have one.

Hey Yewt fans - go choke on a chicken bone!!!!!!

Actually, the danger is probably greater that some passed out, drunk :utard: will choke on their own vomit.

To be honest... getting tired of the holier than though "drunk" comments. We come off sounding self-righteous and ridiculous (think vegans believing you're going to hell for drinking milk).

And BTW, since I can't see any church authority making a similar public statement, I don't think Max's comments were ok.

Where are you coming from??? This is not Sunday School! This is a violent sport - aggressive - smash mouth. Max had his family violated. This was pay back & a GREAT way to do it!!! Good for Max!! You may not agree with him - but you have not walked a mile in his shoes & do not know the degrading treatment they experienced at the hands of classless Yewt fans. I'm not self righteous. I'm not righteous at all - and I can prove that. And - I don't really care if Church Authorities would not make the same comments as Max. Church Authorities & Max are in different places and fulfilling different roles. Screw scumbag Yewt fans. I do recognize there are classy Yewt fans. My Dad & my Grandfather both graduated from the U. They both despise scumbag Yewt fans!!

Ironically, as everyone keeps referencing Max's horrible performance, like Tiny (everything is tiny in Texas) Tim, it becomes clear that we all need to step back and reflect on it. Someone said the 4 game starter from Utah looked better than Hall. Would that be the same QB that could not get one TD pass all night and left his team to rely on 5 field goals and a rushing TD that would never have happened if the ball carrier's helmet didn't fall off and nullify (correct but frustrating call) a fumble. Is it the same Utah QB that threw an interception for a huge return? Yes, Wynn looked sharp for the first qtr and still coul not get a TD. After that he stunk even though his line gave him more time than Hall got and he missed open receivers. And yes, Hall should thank the BYU defense for keeping BYU in the game. Hall and Wynn had to overcome penalties, special teams gaffes, and drive killing mistakes by others. Both teams had to overcome questionable calls by coaches (KWitt icing the BYU kicker and nullifying a missed FG and clock mgmt and playcalling at the end of the 4th quarter by BYU. But it all worked out and the best team won!

But step back and reflect - on an off night - Hall threw for 2 touchdowns and got the ball to Unga for a 3rd TD. At least 3 times Hall ran for 10-15 yards to preserve a drive. Hall did not fumble when sacked. Hall threw zero interceptions. Hall kept BYU in a position to win and then he led the drive that won it. He told the team before that posession in O/T "We are going to score and win this " and then he backed it up.

Hall should have chosen his words more carefully after the game and could have still made his point. His use of hyperbole did generalize the comments to an extent that people will use agasint him and BYU and Mormons. He even had some more subtle comments for BYU fans that have not supported the team through wins as well as losses. I agree with both sentiments - but it would have shown more class to either not say anything about it, or focus the comments to the specific fans that behave the way he was describing. The silent majority of Utah fans unfortunatley allow that vocal minority of Utah fans to set the tone and they never seem to call them on it.

Go Cougs - BYU 26 Utah 23 - George is Still Open ... and will be all year long

Max isn't a church official. He's a freakin' football player. If you don't have a little salt in you, you're not worth a lick. In a world overflowing with thoroughly disingenuous PC rubbish, I found Max's comments to be both refreshingly honest and generally in line with my own observations and experiences. I could have scarcely said it better myself.

Max was out of line. I expect Bronco to talk to him and for him to apologize for his comments. His emotions got the best of him. So he had a bad game, you don't let your frustrations out like that.

I will be disappointed in Max if he does apologize. It's athletics - football - so what! If a few Yewt feathers were ruffled - who cares!!!!! BYU football does not exist to pat Yewt football fans on the head when they feel bad. It's a rough game. Deal with it.

My Dad (Ute Grad) canceled his season tix to RES two years ago, after getting sick of all the F-Bomb throwing Yewt fans. I loved Max's comments and had a good laugh. It will just keep the rivalry fire burning. BTW, my dad sat next to me tonight at the game.... DECKED IN COUGAR BLUE! 8)

Cougarblue has a poll on this topic and last time I looked Hall had far more people in support of what he said than agaisnt it. I am a great Hall supporter. Just look at any of my posts on Cougarblue and that will be clear. I agree with Hall's sentiments but think he could work on how he said it - but it was pure and real and spontaneous, and Max Hall. I love the guy.

I still don't get what all the fuss is about. Max said the same thing that we say on here everyday, does it surprise anyone? The real answer is a resounding "NO," but the pukes need something to piss and moan about and to point their finger at to take away from the pain of losing, so they act like no one on their team has ever said anything like that, like they haven't had BYU stickers in the effing urinals, and like they expected Max to say how much he loves all of them and wants to buy them each a snuggie.

Sorry, but the "Caption" thread was just (if not more)vulgar than the "f" bomb. Not condoning use of the "f" word, just saying you can't have it both ways.

What's right isn't always popular.

Like I said before, I don't really have a problem with his comments. I don't agree if he really meant that about all Utah fans and everything u of u but I think he was simply referring to the classless fans etc.

What I don't like is how this is going to be reflected on BYU. MAx and other BYU players have to realize that if they are going about business in the way that they do (church and God do come first for the BYU team priorities if I recall correctly) they can't be slinging their words like they do the football. I'm afraid if this goes on too long that the GAs are just going to shut the whole thing down because they are tired of the PR nightmare it creates year after year.

meh...I think it is a big non issue that too many are blowing way out of proportion and that too many people are reading way too much into the comments made.

Sorry, but my kids don't read this board.... "does that make it right?" as my mother would say.... probably not.... but I take my boys to the games and I love the fact that in LES in 7 years I have yet to hear an F-bomb.... which can not be said about RES.... Bad comparison my friend.

The problem with Hall's comments is that they are the only thing the media will hang on for the next couple weeks. I'll bet we hear these outtakes more than we see George's awesome TD catch on OT.

I'd like to make a YouTube montage of all the times Utes have said they hated BYU to the media. The clip posted previously is a good start.

Wait a minute...I just realized Max Hall was just reciting the lyrics from an "Ugly Kid Joe" song. He was not being rude towards anyone. :D
